Commentary
The gospel according to John is the fourth book of the New Testament. It was probably the fourth of the accounts of the Jesus' life to be written. The apostle John was probably the author and he is referred to throughout the book as the disciple Jesus loved.
Themes
One of the main themes in John is that of eternal life (sometimes simply referred to as life). Eternal life is described as a present state of reality that a person who believes in Jesus enters into. This life is a life of fullness and completeness that continues despite physical death.
