Talk:Wikichristian vision

Not a bad start I think...Wikichristian aims to serve as a Christian encyclopedia covering and linking everything Christian on the internet and be a thriving wiki Christian community.

Nice, clear and concise. Perhaps we can make it more clear by adding:Wikichristian aims to serve as a Christian encyclopedia covering and linking everything Christian on the internet and be a thriving wiki Christian community and wiki encyclopedia.

By adding the encyclopedia reference at the end we make it clear that we are aiming to be an encyclopedia and general reference source. Kindda like..."One Place for Christians to go" to visit most of the other Christian content on the net. Also, I was thinking that perhaps we could list our goals for 2005 on this page. Now, we'd have to think and agree on those but perhaps something like...

Goals for 2005:

  • Expansion of Easton's Bible Dictionary
  • Expansion of Christian Web Directory and Local Church listings
  • Expansion of song lyrics repository (we might want to check on the legality of posting copyrighted song lyrics)
  • Addition of various devotionals written by contributors
  • Addition of various short articles on interesting Biblical/Christian subjects

Those are the general areas where I have seen the most effort being but, and I think those five things might make a good outline for what we want to accomplish in the next nine months. I'm personally very interested in the first one and the later two. So...thoughts anyone? Cpark 14:39, 7 Mar 2005 (PST)

I think The above goals sound good for 2005, but I would add "Being a Christian Encyclopedia" on the top since that encompasses most of the other things.

This is going to be a crucial year for this novel wiki project and we should give it the skeleton upon which the rest of the flesh could hang on to and grow. Kind of birthing a baby, with all the systems and organs in place and functioning but none mature yet.

As we are in the formative phase, we need people with strong leadership capabilities, visionaries, and not but not the least praying and participating wiki Christian community. As we grow, we would also like to serve as an open source forum for Christian News.

We are looking for a better logo, those that are interested in this logo development, please upload the logos that you think suits the website better using the Special:Upload link and leave a few lines in the Wikichristian:logo page.

Vision and Goals

Alrighty, I added the goals to the vision page. I'm still interested in what everyone thinks. Are these goals doable? Are there too many or not enough? Do the goals accurately portray what the majorify feel in WikiChristians primary purpose/direction? Also, what of the Vision? Is it clear enough? I'm very interested in this since I agree with Prab that this is a formative time for WikiChristian and we need to "get off on the right foot" as it were. Cpark 09:47, 9 Mar 2005 (PST)

Quote

Perhaps you can use this quote from the Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri game, which I have found over the years to be very wise and useful in explaining that Internet can be a great force for good: "Evil lurks in the datalinks as it lurked in the streets of yesteryear. But it was never the streets that were evil." Piotrus, --83.30.254.33 14:20, 16 Jun 2005 (PDT)
