Δικαιοω is the Koine Greek verb meaning: justify.

It is a contract verb.

In theological circles, the definition of the word justify has been under the spot-light in recent years with the development of the New Perspective on Paul. Traditionally, at least by Protestant Christians, the word has been understood to describe how a person becomes right with God. Proponents of the New Perspective however argue that when the Apostle Paul used the word, he used it as a descriptor of who was right with God rather than how one became right with God.
