- The word of Yahweh of Armies came to me.
- Thus says Yahweh of Armies: "I am jealous for Zion with great jealousy, and I am jealous for her with great wrath."
- Thus says Yahweh: "I have returned to Zion, and will dwell in the midst of Jerusalem. Jerusalem shall be called 'The City of Truth;' and the mountain of Yahweh of Armies, 'The Holy Mountain.'"
- Thus says Yahweh of Armies: "Old men and old women will again dwell in the streets of Jerusalem, every man with his staff in his hand for very age.
- The streets of the city will be full of boys and girls playing in its streets."
- Thus says Yahweh of Armies: "If it is marvelous in the eyes of the remnant of this people in those days, should it also be marvelous in my eyes?" says Yahweh of Armies.
- Thus says Yahweh of Armies: "Behold, I will save my people from the east country, and from the west country;
- and I will bring them, and they will dwell in the midst of Jerusalem; and they will be my people, and I will be their God, in truth and in righteousness."
- Thus says Yahweh of Armies: "Let your hands be strong, you who hear in these days these words from the mouth of the prophets who were in the day that the foundation of the house of Yahweh of Armies was laid, even the temple, that it might be built.
- For before those days there was no wages for man, nor any wages for an animal; neither was there any peace to him who went out or came in, because of the adversary. For I set all men everyone against his neighbor.
- But now I will not be to the remnant of this people as in the former days," says Yahweh of Armies.
- "For the seed of peace and the vine will yield its fruit, and the ground will give its increase, and the heavens will give their dew; and I will cause the remnant of this people to inherit all these things.
- It shall come to pass that, as you were a curse among the nations, house of Judah and house of Israel, so will I save you, and you shall be a blessing. Don't be afraid. Let your hands be strong."
- For thus says Yahweh of Armies: "As I thought to do evil to you, when your fathers provoked me to wrath," says Yahweh of Armies, "and I didn't repent;
- so again have I thought in these days to do good to Jerusalem and to the house of Judah. Don't be afraid.
- These are the things that you shall do: speak every man the truth with his neighbor. Execute the judgment of truth and peace in your gates,
- and let none of you devise evil in your hearts against his neighbor, and love no false oath: for all these are things that I hate," says Yahweh.
- The word of Yahweh of Armies came to me.
- Thus says Yahweh of Armies: "The fasts of the fourth fifth, seventh, and tenth months shall be for the house of Judah joy and gladness, and cheerful feasts. Therefore love truth and peace."
- Thus says Yahweh of Armies: "Many peoples, and the inhabitants of many cities will yet come;
- and the inhabitants of one shall go to another, saying, 'Let us go speedily to entreat the favor of Yahweh, and to seek Yahweh of Armies. I will go also.'
- Yes, many peoples and strong nations will come to seek Yahweh of Armies in Jerusalem, and to entreat the favor of Yahweh."
- Thus says Yahweh of Armies: "In those days, ten men will take hold, out of all the languages of the nations, they will take hold of the skirt of him who is a Jew, saying, 'We will go with you, for we have heard that God is with you.'"

- ויהי דבר־יהוה צבאות לאמר׃
- כה אמר יהוה צבאות קנאתי לציון קנאה גדולה וחמה גדולה קנאתי לה׃
- כה אמר יהוה שבתי אל־ציון ושכנתי בתוך ירושלם ונקראה ירושלם עיר־האמת והר־יהוה צבאות הר הקדש׃ ס
- כה אמר יהוה צבאות עד ישבו זקנים וזקנות ברחבות ירושלם ואיש משענתו בידו מרב ימים׃
- ורחבות העיר ימלאו ילדים וילדות משחקים ברחבתיה׃ ס
- כה אמר יהוה צבאות כי יפלא בעיני שארית העם הזה בימים ההם גם־בעיני יפלא נאם יהוה צבאות׃ ף
- כה אמר יהוה צבאות הנני מושיע את־עמי מארץ מזרח ומארץ מבוא השמש׃
- והבאתי אתם ושכנו בתוך ירושלם והיו־לי לעם ואני אהיה להם לאלהים באמת ובצדקה׃ ס
- כה־אמר יהוה צבאות תחזקנה ידיכם השמעים בימים האלה את הדברים האלה מפי הנביאים אשר ביום יסד בית־יהוה צבאות ההיכל להבנות׃
- כי לפני הימים ההם שכר האדם לא נהיה ושכר הבהמה איננה וליוצא ולבא אין־שלום מן־הצר ואשלח את־כל־האדם איש ברעהו׃
- ועתה לא כימים הראשנים אני לשארית העם הזה נאם יהוה צבאות׃
- כי־זרע השלום הגפן תתן פריה והארץ תתן את־יבולה והשמים יתנו טלם והנחלתי את־שארית העם הזה את־כל־אלה׃
- והיה כאשר הייתם קללה בגוים בית יהודה ובית ישראל כן אושיע אתכם והייתם ברכה אל־תיראו תחזקנה ידיכם׃ ס
- כי כה אמר יהוה צבאות כאשר זממתי להרע לכם בהקציף אבתיכם אתי אמר יהוה צבאות ולא נחמתי׃
- כן שבתי זממתי בימים האלה להיטיב את־ירושלם ואת־בית יהודה אל־תיראו׃
- אלה הדברים אשר תעשו דברו אמת איש את־רעהו אמת ומשפט שלום שפטו בשעריכם׃
- ואיש את־רעת רעהו אל־תחשבו בלבבכם ושבעת שקר אל־תאהבו כי את־כל־אלה אשר שנאתי נאם־יהוה׃ ס
- ויהי דבר־יהוה צבאות אלי לאמר׃
- כה־אמר יהוה צבאות צום הרביעי וצום החמישי וצום השביעי וצום העשירי יהיה לבית־יהודה לששון ולשמחה ולמעדים טובים והאמת והשלום אהבו׃ ף
- כה אמר יהוה צבאות עד אשר יבאו עמים וישבי ערים רבות׃
- והלכו ישבי אחת אל־אחת לאמר נלכה הלוך לחלות את־פני יהוה ולבקש את־יהוה צבאות אלכה גם־אני׃
- ובאו עמים רבים וגוים עצומים לבקש את־יהוה צבאות בירושלם ולחלות את־פני יהוה׃ ס
- כה אמר יהוה צבאות בימים ההמה אשר יחזיקו עשרה אנשים מכל לשנות הגוים והחזיקו בכנף איש יהודי לאמר נלכה עםכם כי שמענו אלהים עםכם׃ ס

- Et factum est verbum Domini exercituum, dicens :
- Hæc dicit Dominus exercituum : Zelatus sum Sion zelo magno, et indignatione magna zelatus sum eam.
- Hæc dicit Dominus exercituum : Reversus sum ad Sion, et habitabo in medio Jerusalem : et vocabitur Jerusalem civitas veritatis, et mons Domini exercituum mons sanctificatus.
- Hæc dicit Dominus exercituum : Adhuc habitabunt senes et anus in plateis Jerusalem, et viri baculus in manu ejus præ multitudine dierum.
- Et plateæ civitatis complebuntur infantibus et puellis, ludentibus in plateis ejus.
- Hæc dicit Dominus exercituum : Si videbitur difficile in oculis reliquiarum populi hujus in diebus illis, numquid in oculis meis difficile erit ? dicit Dominus exercituum.
- Hæc dicit Dominus exercituum : Ecce ego salvabo populum meum de terra orientis et de terra occasus solis.
- Et adducam eos, et habitabunt in medio Jerusalem : et erunt mihi in populum, et ego ero eis in Deum, in veritate et in justitia.
- Hæc dicit Dominus exercituum : Confortentur manus vestræ, qui auditis in his diebus sermones istos per os prophetarum, in die qua fundata est domus Domini exercituum, ut templum ædificaretur.
- Siquidem ante dies illos merces hominum non erat, nec merces jumentorum erat : neque introëunti, neque exeunti erat pax præ tribulatione : et dimisi omnes homines, unumquemque contra proximum suum.
- Nunc autem non juxta dies priores ego faciam reliquiis populi hujus, dicit Dominus exercituum,
- sed semen pacis erit : vinea dabit fructum suum, et terra dabit germen suum, et cæli dabunt rorem suum : et possidere faciam reliquias populi hujus universa hæc.
- Et erit : sicut eratis maledictio in gentibus, domus Juda et domus Israël, sic salvabo vos, et eritis benedictio. Nolite timere ; confortentur manus vestræ.
- Quia hæc dicit Dominus exercituum : Sicut cogitavi ut affligerem vos, cum ad iracundiam provocassent patres vestri me, dicit Dominus,
- et non sum misertus : sic conversus cogitavi, in diebus istis, ut benefaciam domui Juda et Jerusalem. Nolite timere.
- Hæc sunt ergo verba quæ facietis : loquimini veritatem unusquisque cum proximo suo : veritatem et judicium pacis judicate in portis vestris.
- Et unusquisque malum contra amicum suum ne cogitetis in cordibus vestris, et juramentum mendax ne diligatis : omnia enim hæc sunt quæ odi, dicit Dominus.
- Et factum est verbum Domini exercituum ad me, dicens :
- Hæc dicit Dominus exercituum : Jejunium quarti, et jejunium quinti, et jejunium septimi, et jejunium decimi erit domui Juda in gaudium et lætitiam et in solemnitates præclaras. Veritatem tantum et pacem diligite.
- Hæc dicit Dominus exercituum, usquequo veniant populi et habitent in civitatibus multis :
- et vadant habitatores, unus ad alterum, dicentes : Eamus, et deprecemur faciem Domini, et quæramus Dominum exercituum : vadam etiam ego.
- Et venient populi multi, et gentes robustæ, ad quærendum Dominum exercituum in Jerusalem, et deprecandam faciem Domini.
- Hæc dicit Dominus exercituum : In diebus illis, in quibus apprehendent decem homines ex omnibus linguis gentium, et apprehendent fimbriam viri Judæi, dicentes : Ibimus vobiscum : audivimus enim quoniam Deus vobiscum est.

- Again the word of the LORD of hosts came to me, saying,
- Thus saith the LORD of hosts; I was jealous for Zion with great jealousy, and I was jealous for her with great fury.
- Thus saith the LORD; I am returned unto Zion, and will dwell in the midst of Jerusalem: and Jerusalem shall be called a city of truth; and the mountain of the LORD of hosts the holy mountain.
- Thus saith the LORD of hosts; There shall yet old men and old women dwell in the streets of Jerusalem, and every man with his staff in his hand for very age.
- And the streets of the city shall be full of boys and girls playing in the streets thereof.
- Thus saith the LORD of hosts; If it be marvellous in the eyes of the remnant of this people in these days, should it also be marvellous in mine eyes? saith the LORD of hosts.

- And it shall come to pass, that as ye were a curse among the heathen, O house of Judah, and house of Israel; so will I save you, and ye shall be a blessing: fear not, but let your hands be strong.
- For thus saith the LORD of hosts; As I thought to punish you, when your fathers provoked me to wrath, saith the LORD of hosts, and I repented not:
- So again have I thought in these days to do well unto Jerusalem and to the house of Judah: fear ye not.
- These are the things that ye shall do; Speak ye every man the truth to his neighbour; execute the judgment of truth and peace in your gates:
- And let none of you imagine evil in your hearts against his neighbour; and love no false oath: for all these are things that I hate, saith the LORD.
- And the word of the LORD of hosts came unto me, saying,
- Thus saith the LORD of hosts; The fast of the fourth month, and the fast of the fifth, and the fast of the seventh, and the fast of the tenth, shall be to the house of Judah joy and gladness, and cheerful feasts; therefore love the truth and peace.
- Thus saith the LORD of hosts; It shall yet come to pass, that there shall come people, and the inhabitants of many cities:
- And the inhabitants of one city shall go to another, saying, Let us go speedily to pray before the LORD, and to seek the LORD of hosts: I will go also.
- Yea, many people and strong nations shall come to seek the LORD of hosts in Jerusalem, and to pray before the LORD.
- Thus saith the LORD of hosts; In those days it shall come to pass, that ten men shall take hold out of all languages of the nations, even shall take hold of the skirt of him that is a Jew, saying, We will go with you: for we have heard that God is with you.
