- You, son of man, take a sharp sword; You shall take it as a barber's razor to you, and shall cause it to pass on your head and on your beard: then take balances to weigh, and divide the hair.
- A third part you shall burn in the fire in the midst of the city, when the days of the siege are fulfilled; and you shall take a third part, and strike with the sword around it; and a third part you shall scatter to the wind, and I will draw out a sword after them.
- You shall take of it a few in number, and bind them in your skirts.
- Of these again you shall take, and cast them into the midst of the fire, and burn them in the fire; from it shall a fire come forth into all the house of Israel.
- Thus says the Lord Yahweh: This is Jerusalem; I have set her in the midst of the nations, and countries are around her.
- She has rebelled against my ordinances in doing wickedness more than the nations, and against my statutes more than the countries that are around her; for they have rejected my ordinances, and as for my statutes, they have not walked in them.
- Therefore thus says the Lord Yahweh: Because you are turbulent more than the nations that are around you, and have not walked in my statutes, neither have kept my ordinances, neither have done after the ordinances of the nations that are around you;
- therefore thus says the Lord Yahweh: Behold, I, even I, am against you; and I will execute judgments in the midst of you in the sight of the nations.
- I will do in you that which I have not done, and whereunto I will not do any more the like, because of all your abominations.
- Therefore the fathers shall eat the sons in the midst of you, and the sons shall eat their fathers; and I will execute judgments on you; and the whole remnant of you will I scatter to all the winds.
- Therefore, as I live, says the Lord Yahweh, surely, because you have defiled my sanctuary with all your detestable things, and with all your abominations, therefore will I also diminish [you]; neither shall my eye spare, and I also will have no pity.
- A third part of you shall die with the pestilence, and with famine shall they be consumed in the midst of you; and a third part shall fall by the sword around you; and a third part I will scatter to all the winds, and will draw out a sword after them.
- Thus shall my anger be accomplished, and I will cause my wrath toward them to rest, and I shall be comforted; and they shall know that I, Yahweh, have spoken in my zeal, when I have accomplished my wrath on them.
- Moreover I will make you a desolation and a reproach among the nations that are around you, in the sight of all that pass by.
- So it shall be a reproach and a taunt, an instruction and an astonishment, to the nations that are around you, when I shall execute judgments on you in anger and in wrath, and in wrathful rebukes; (I, Yahweh, have spoken it;)
- when I shall send on them the evil arrows of famine, that are for destruction, which I will send to destroy you: and I will increase the famine on you, and will break your staff of bread;
- and I will send on you famine and evil animals, and they shall bereave you; and pestilence and blood shall pass through you; and I will bring the sword on you: I, Yahweh, have spoken it.

- ואתה בן־אדם קח־לך חרב חדה תער הגלבים תקחנה לך והעברת על־ראשך ועל־זקנך ולקחת לך מאזני משקל וחלקתם׃
- שלשית באור תבעיר בתוך העיר כמלאת ימי המצור ולקחת את־השלשית תכה בחרב סביבותיה והשלשית תזרה לרוח וחרב אריק אחריהם׃
- ולקחת משם מעט במספר וצרת אותם בכנפיך׃
- ומהם עוד תקח והשלכת אותם אל־תוך האש ושרפת אתם באש ממנו תצא־אש אל־כל־בית ישראל׃ ף
- כה אמר אדני יהוה זאת ירושלם בתוך הגוים שמתיה וסביבותיה ארצות׃
- ותמר את־משפטי לרשעה מן־הגוים ואת־חקותי מן־הארצות אשר סביבותיה כי במשפטי מאסו וחקותי לא־הלכו בהם׃ ס
- לכן כה־אמר אדני יהוה יען המנכם מן־הגוים אשר סביבותיכם בחקותי לא הלכתם ואת־משפטי לא עשיתם וכמשפטי הגוים אשר סביבותיכם לא עשיתם׃ ס
- לכן כה אמר אדני יהוה הנני עליך גם־אני ועשיתי בתוךך משפטים לעיני הגוים׃
- ועשיתי בך את אשר לא־עשיתי ואת אשר־לא־אעשה כמהו עוד יען כל־תועבתיך׃ ס
- לכן אבות יאכלו בנים בתוךך ובנים יאכלו אבותם ועשיתי בך שפטים וזריתי את־כל־שאריתך לכל־רוח׃ ף
- לכן חי־אני נאם אדני יהוה אם־לא יען את־מקדשי טמאת בכל־שקוציך ובכל־תועבתיך וגם־אני אגרע ולא־תחוס עיני וגם־אני לא אחמול׃
- שלשתיך בדבר ימותו וברעב יכלו בתוךך והשלשית בחרב יפלו סביבותיך והשלישית לכל־רוח אזרה וחרב אריק אחריהם׃
- וכלה אפי והנחותי חמתי בם והנחמתי וידעו כי־אני יהוה דברתי בקנאתי בכלותי חמתי בם׃
- ואתנך לחרבה ולחרפה בגוים אשר סביבותיך לעיני כל־עובר׃
- והיתה חרפה וגדופה מוסר ומשמה לגוים אשר סביבותיך בעשותי בך שפטים באף ובחמה ובתכחות חמה אני יהוה דברתי׃
- בשלחי את־חצי הרעב הרעים בהם אשר היו למשחית אשר־אשלח אותם לשחתכם ורעב אסף עליכם ושברתי לכם מטה־לחם׃
- ושלחתי עליכם רעב וחיה רעה ושכלך ודבר ודם יעבר־בך וחרב אביא עליך אני יהוה דברתי׃ ף

- Et tu, fili hominis, sume tibi gladium acutum, radentem pilos, et assumes eum et duces per caput tuum et per barbam tuam, et assumes tibi stateram ponderis et divides eos.
- Tertiam partem igni combures in medio civitatis, juxta completionem dierum obsidionis, et assumes tertiam partem, et concides gladio in circuitu ejus : tertiam vero aliam disperges in ventum, et gladium nudabo post eos.
- Et sumes inde parvum numerum, et ligabis eos in summitate pallii tui :
- et ex eis rursum tolles, et projicies eos in medio ignis, et combures eos igni, et ex eo egredietur ignis in omnem domum Israël.
- Hæc dicit Dominus Deus : Ista est Jerusalem : in medio gentium posui eam, et in circuitu ejus terras.
- Et contempsit judicia mea, ut plus esset impia quam gentes, et præcepta mea ultra quam terræ quæ in circuitu ejus sunt : judicia enim mea projecerunt, et in præceptis meis non ambulaverunt.
- Idcirco hæc dicit Dominus Deus : Quia superastis gentes quæ in circuitu vestro sunt, et in præceptis meis non ambulastis, et judicia mea non fecistis, et juxta judicia gentium quæ in circuitu vestro sunt non estis operati,
- ideo hæc dicit Dominus Deus : Ecce ego ad te, et ipse ego faciam in medio tui judicia in oculis gentium :
- et faciam in te quod non feci, et quibus similia ultra non faciam, propter omnes abominationes tuas.
- Ideo patres comedent filios in medio tui, et filii comedent patres suos : et faciam in te judicia, et ventilabo universas reliquias tuas in omnem ventum.
- Idcirco vivo ego, dicit Dominus Deus, nisi pro eo quod sanctum meum violasti in omnibus offensionibus tuis et in cunctis abominationibus tuis, ego quoque confringam, et non parcet oculus meus, et non miserebor.
- Tertia pars tui peste morietur, et fame consumetur in medio tui, et tertia pars tui in gladio cadet in circuitu tuo : tertiam vero partem tuam in omnem ventum dispergam, et gladium evaginabo post eos.
- Et complebo furorem meum, et requiescere faciam indignationem meam in eis, et consolabor : et scient quia ego Dominus locutus sum in zelo meo, cum implevero indignationem meam in eis.
- Et dabo te in desertum, et in opprobrium gentibus quæ in circuitu tuo sunt, in conspectu omnis prætereuntis :
- et eris opprobrium et blasphemia, exemplum et stupor in gentibus quæ in circuitu tuo sunt, cum fecero in te judicia in furore, et in indignatione, et in increpationibus iræ.
- Ego Dominus locutus sum : quando misero sagittas famis pessimas in eos, quæ erunt mortiferæ, et quas mittam ut disperdam vos : et famem congregabo super vos, et conteram in vobis baculum panis :
- et immittam in vos famem et bestias pessimas, usque ad internecionem : et pestilentia et sanguis transibunt per te, et gladium inducam super te. Ego Dominus locutus sum.

- Thou shalt burn with fire a third part in the midst of the city, when the days of the siege are fulfilled: and thou shalt take a third part, and smite about it with a knife: and a third part thou shalt scatter in the wind; and I will draw out a sword after them.
- Thou shalt also take thereof a few in number, and bind them in thy skirts.
- Then take of them again, and cast them into the midst of the fire, and burn them in the fire; for thereof shall a fire come forth into all the house of Israel.
- Thus saith the Lord GOD; This is Jerusalem: I have set it in the midst of the nations and countries that are round about her.
- And she hath changed my judgments into wickedness more than the nations, and my statutes more than the countries that are round about her: for they have refused my judgments and my statutes, they have not walked in them.
- Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; Because ye multiplied more than the nations that are round about you, and have not walked in my statutes, neither have kept my judgments, neither have done according to the judgments of the nations that are round about you;

- So will I send upon you famine and evil beasts, and they shall bereave thee; and pestilence and blood shall pass through thee; and I will bring the sword upon thee. I the LORD have spoken it.
