  1. After this it happened that David struck the Philistines, and subdued them: and David took the bridle of the mother city out of the hand of the Philistines.
  2. He struck Moab, and measured them with the line, making them to lie down on the ground; and he measured two lines to put to death, and one full line to keep alive. The Moabites became servants to David, and brought tribute.
  3. David struck also Hadadezer the son of Rehob, king of Zobah, as he went to recover his dominion at the River.
  4. David took from him one thousand seven hundred horsemen, and twenty thousand footmen: and David hamstrung all the chariot horses, but reserved of them for one hundred chariots.
  5. When the Syrians of Damascus came to help Hadadezer king of Zobah, David struck of the Syrians two and twenty thousand men.
  6. Then David put garrisons in Syria of Damascus; and the Syrians became servants to David, and brought tribute. Yahweh gave victory to David wherever he went.
  7. David took the shields of gold that were on the servants of Hadadezer, and brought them to Jerusalem.
  8. From Betah and from Berothai, cities of Hadadezer, king David took exceeding much brass.
  9. When Toi king of Hamath heard that David had struck all the army of Hadadezer,
  10. then Toi sent Joram his son to king David, to Greet him, and to bless him, because he had fought against Hadadezer and struck him: for Hadadezer had wars with Toi. [Joram] brought with him vessels of silver, and vessels of gold, and vessels of brass:
  11. These also did king David dedicate to Yahweh, with the silver and gold that he dedicated of all the nations which he subdued;
  12. of Syria, and of Moab, and of the children of Ammon, and of the Philistines, and of Amalek, and of the spoil of Hadadezer, son of Rehob, king of Zobah.
  13. David earned a reputation when he returned from smiting the Syrians in the Valley of Salt, even eighteen thousand men.
  14. He put garrisons in Edom; throughout all Edom put he garrisons, and all the Edomites became servants to David. Yahweh gave victory to David wherever he went.
  15. David reigned over all Israel; and David executed justice and righteousness to all his people.
  16. Joab the son of Zeruiah was over the army; and Jehoshaphat the son of Ahilud was recorder;
  17. and Zadok the son of Ahitub, and Ahimelech the son of Abiathar, were priests; and Seraiah was scribe;
  18. and Benaiah the son of Jehoiada [was over] the Cherethites and the Pelethites; and David's sons were chief ministers.

  1. ויהי אחרי־כן ויך דוד את־פלשתים ויכניעם ויקח דוד את־מתג האמה מיד פלשתים׃
  2. ויך את־מואב וימדדם בחבל השכב אותם ארצה וימדד שני־חבלים להמית ומלא החבל להחיות ותהי מואב לדוד לעבדים נשאי מנחה׃
  3. ויך דוד את־הדדעזר בן־רחב מלך צובה בלכתו להשיב ידו בנהר־ ׃
  4. וילכד דוד ממנו אלף ושבע־מאות פרשים ועשרים אלף איש רגלי ויעקר דוד את־כל־הרכב ויותר ממנו מאה רכב׃
  5. ותבא ארם דמשק לעזר להדדעזר מלך צובה ויך דוד בארם עשרים־ושנים אלף איש׃
  6. וישם דוד נצבים בארם דמשק ותהי ארם לדוד לעבדים נושאי מנחה וישע יהוה את־דוד בכל אשר הלך׃
  7. ויקח דוד את שלטי הזהב אשר היו אל עבדי הדדעזר ויביאם ירושלם׃
  8. ומבטח ומברתי ערי הדדעזר לקח המלך דוד נחשת הרבה מאד׃ ס
  9. וישמע תעי מלך חמת כי הכה דוד את כל־חיל הדדעזר׃
  10. וישלח תעי את־יורם־בנו אל־המלך־דוד לשאל־לו לשלום ולברכו על אשר נלחם בהדדעזר ויכהו כי־איש מלחמות תעי היה הדדעזר ובידו היו כלי־כסף וכלי־זהב וכלי נחשת׃
  11. גם־אתם הקדיש המלך דוד ליהוה עם־הכסף והזהב אשר הקדיש מכל־הגוים אשר כבש׃
  12. מארם וממואב ומבני עמון ומפלשתים ומעמלק ומשלל הדדעזר בן־רחב מלך צובה׃
  13. ויעש דוד שם בשבו מהכותו את־ארם בגיא־מלח שמונה עשר אלף׃
  14. וישם באדום נצבים בכל־אדום שם נצבים ויהי כל־אדום עבדים לדוד ויושע יהוה את־דוד בכל אשר הלך׃
  15. וימלך דוד על־כל־ישראל ויהי דוד עשה משפט וצדקה לכל־עמו׃
  16. ויואב בן־צרויה על־הצבא ויהושפט בן־אחילוד מזכיר׃
  17. וצדוק בן־אחיטוב ואחימלך בן־אביתר כהנים ושריה סופר׃
  18. ובניהו בן־יהוידע והכרתי והפלתי ובני דוד כהנים היו׃ ף

  1. και εγενετο μετα ταυτα και επαταξεν δαυιδ τους αλλοφυλους και ετροπωσατο αυτους και ελαβεν δαυιδ την αφωρισμενην εκ χειρος των
  2. και επαταξεν δαυιδ την μωαβ και διεμετρησεν αυτους εν σχοινιοις κοιμισας αυτους επι την γην και εγενετο τα δυο σχοινισματα του θανατωσαι και τα δυο σχοινισματα εζωγρησεν και εγενετο μωαβ τω δαυιδ εις δουλους φεροντας
  3. και επαταξεν δαυιδ τον αδρααζαρ υιον ρααβ βασιλεα σουβα πορευομενου αυτου επιστησαι την χειρα αυτου επι τον ποταμον
  4. και προκατελαβετο δαυιδ των αυτου χιλια αρματα και επτα χιλιαδας ιππεων και εικοσι χιλιαδας ανδρων πεζων και παρελυσεν δαυιδ παντα τα αρματα και υπελιπετο εξ αυτων εκατον
  5. και παραγινεται συρια δαμασκου βοηθησαι τω αδρααζαρ βασιλει σουβα και επαταξεν δαυιδ εν τω συρω εικοσι δυο χιλιαδας
  6. και εθετο δαυιδ φρουραν εν συρια τη κατα δαμασκον και εγενετο ο συρος τω δαυιδ εις δουλους φεροντας ξενια και εσωσεν κυριος τον δαυιδ εν πασιν οις
  7. και ελαβεν δαυιδ τους χλιδωνας τους χρυσους οι ησαν επι των παιδων των αδρααζαρ βασιλεως σουβα και ηνεγκεν αυτα εις ιερουσαλημ και ελαβεν αυτα σουσακιμ βασιλευς αιγυπτου εν τω αναβηναι αυτον εις ιερουσαλημ εν ημεραις ροβοαμ υιου
  8. και εκ της μασβακ εκ των εκλεκτων πολεων του αδρααζαρ ελαβεν ο βασιλευς δαυιδ χαλκον πολυν σφοδρα εν αυτω εποιησεν σαλωμων την θαλασσαν την χαλκην και τους στυλους και τους λουτηρας και παντα τα
  9. και ηκουσεν θοου ο βασιλευς ημαθ οτι επαταξεν δαυιδ πασαν την δυναμιν
  10. και απεστειλεν θοου ιεδδουραν τον υιον αυτου προς βασιλεα δαυιδ ερωτησαι αυτον τα εις ειρηνην και ευλογησαι αυτον υπερ ου επολεμησεν τον αδρααζαρ και επαταξεν αυτον οτι αντικειμενος ην τω αδρααζαρ και εν ταις χερσιν αυτου ησαν σκευη αργυρα και σκευη χρυσα και σκευη
  11. και ταυτα ηγιασεν ο βασιλευς δαυιδ τω κυριω μετα του αργυριου και μετα του χρυσιου ου ηγιασεν εκ πασων των πολεων ων
  12. εκ της ιδουμαιας και εκ της γης μωαβ και εκ των υιων αμμων και εκ των αλλοφυλων και εξ αμαληκ και εκ των σκυλων αδρααζαρ υιου ρααβ βασιλεως
  13. και εποιησεν δαυιδ ονομα και εν τω ανακαμπτειν αυτον επαταξεν την ιδουμαιαν εν γαιμελε εις οκτωκαιδεκα
  14. και εθετο εν τη ιδουμαια φρουραν εν παση τη ιδουμαια και εγενοντο παντες οι ιδουμαιοι δουλοι τω βασιλει και εσωσεν κυριος τον δαυιδ εν πασιν οις
  15. και εβασιλευσεν δαυιδ επι ισραηλ και ην δαυιδ ποιων κριμα και δικαιοσυνην επι παντα τον λαον
  16. και ιωαβ υιος σαρουιας επι της στρατιας και ιωσαφατ υιος αχια επι των
  17. και σαδδουκ υιος αχιτωβ και αχιμελεχ υιος αβιαθαρ ιερεις και ασα ο

  1. Factum est autem post hæc, percussit David Philisthiim, et humiliavit eos, et tulit David frenum tributi de manu Philisthiim.
  2. Et percussit Moab, et mensus est eos funiculo, coæquans terræ : mensus est autem duos funiculos, unum ad occidendum, et unum ad vivificandum : factusque est Moab David serviens sub tributo.
  3. Et percussit David Adarezer filium Rohob regem Soba, quando profectus est ut dominaretur super flumen Euphraten.
  4. Et captis David ex parte ejus mille septingentis equitibus, et viginti millibus peditum, subnervavit omnes jugales curruum : dereliquit autem ex eis centum currus.
  5. Venit quoque Syria Damasci, ut præsidium ferret Adarezer regi Soba : et percussit David de Syria viginti duo millia virorum.
  6. Et posuit David præsidium in Syria Damasci : factaque est Syria David serviens sub tributo : servavitque Dominus David in omnibus ad quæcumque profectus est.
  7. Et tulit David arma aurea, quæ habebant servi Adarezer, et detulit ea in Jerusalem.
  8. Et de Bete et de Beroth, civitatibus Adarezer, tulit rex David æs multum nimis.
  9. Audivit autem Thou rex Emath, quod percussisset David omne robur Adarezer,
  10. et misit Thou Joram filium suum ad regem David, ut salutaret eum congratulans, et gratias ageret : eo quod expugnasset Adarezer, et percussisset eum. Hostis quippe erat Thou Adarezer, et in manu ejus erant vasa aurea, et vasa argentea, et vasa ærea :
  11. quæ et ipsa sanctificavit rex David Domino cum argento et auro, quæ sanctificaverat de universis gentibus quas subegerat,
  12. de Syria, et Moab, et filiis Ammon, et Philisthiim, et Amalec, et de manubiis Adarezer filii Rohob regis Soba.
  13. Fecit quoque sibi David nomen cum revereteretur capta Syria in valle Salinarum, cæsis decem et octo millibus :
  14. et posuit in Idumæa custodes, statuitque præsidium : et facta est universa Idumæa serviens David, et servavit Dominus David in omnis ad quæcumque profectus est.
  15. Et regnavit David super omnem Israël : faciebat quoque David judicium et justitiam omni populo suo.
  16. Joab autem filius Sarviæ erat super exercitum : porro Josaphat filius Ahilud erat a commentariis :
  17. et Sadoc filius Achitob, et Achimelech filius Abiathar, erant sacerdotes : et Saraias, scriba :
  18. Banaias autem filius Jojadæ super Cerethi et Phelethi : filii autem David sacerdotes erant.

  4. And David took from him a thousand chariots, and seven hundred horsemen, and twenty thousand footmen: and David houghed all the chariot horses, but reserved of them for an hundred chariots.
  5. And when the Syrians of Damascus came to succour Hadadezer king of Zobah, David slew of the Syrians two and twenty thousand men.
  6. Then David put garrisons in Syria of Damascus: and the Syrians became servants to David, and brought gifts. And the LORD preserved David whithersoever he went.
