- It happened in the twelfth year, in the twelfth month, in the first [day] of the month, that the word of Yahweh came to me, saying,
- Son of man, take up a lamentation over Pharaoh king of Egypt, and tell him, You were likened to a young lion of the nations: yet you are as a monster in the seas; and you did break forth with your rivers, and troubled the waters with your feet, and fouled their rivers.
- Thus says the Lord Yahweh: I will spread out my net on you with a company of many peoples; and they shall bring you up in my net.
- I will leave you on the land, I will cast you forth on the open field, and will cause all the birds of the sky to settle on you, and I will satisfy the animals of the whole earth with you.
- I will lay your flesh on the mountains, and fill the valleys with your height.
- I will also water with your blood the land in which you swim, even to the mountains; and the watercourses shall be full of you.
- When I shall extinguish you, I will cover the heavens, and make its stars dark; I will cover the sun with a cloud, and the moon shall not give its light.
- All the bright lights of the sky will I make dark over you, and set darkness on your land, says the Lord Yahweh.
- I will also trouble the hearts of many peoples, when I shall bring your destruction among the nations, into the countries which you have not known.
- Yes, I will make many peoples amazed at you, and their kings shall be horribly afraid for you, when I shall brandish my sword before them; and they shall tremble at every moment, every man for his own life, in the day of your fall.
- For thus says the Lord Yahweh: The sword of the king of Babylon shall come on you.
- By the swords of the mighty will I cause your multitude to fall; the terrible of the nations are they all: and they shall bring to nothing the pride of Egypt, and all its multitude shall be destroyed.
- I will destroy also all its animals from beside many waters; neither shall the foot of man trouble them any more, nor the hoofs of animals trouble them.
- Then will I make their waters clear, and cause their rivers to run like oil, says the Lord Yahweh.
- When I shall make the land of Egypt desolate and waste, a land destitute of that of which it was full, when I shall strike all those who dwell therein, then shall they know that I am Yahweh.
- This is the lamentation with which they shall lament; the daughters of the nations shall lament therewith; over Egypt, and over all her multitude, shall they lament therewith, says the Lord Yahweh.
- It happened also in the twelfth year, in the fifteenth [day] of the month, that the word of Yahweh came to me, saying,
- Son of man, wail for the multitude of Egypt, and cast them down, even her, and the daughters of the famous nations, to the lower parts of the earth, with those who go down into the pit.
- Whom do you pass in beauty? Go down, and be laid with the uncircumcised.
- They shall fall in the midst of those who are slain by the sword: she is delivered to the sword; draw her away and all her multitudes.
- The strong among the mighty shall speak to him out of the midst of Sheol with those who help him: they are gone down, they lie still, even the uncircumcised, slain by the sword.
- Asshur is there and all her company; her graves are all around her; all of them slain, fallen by the sword;
- whose graves are set in the uttermost parts of the pit, and her company is around her grave; all of them slain, fallen by the sword, who caused terror in the land of the living.
- There is Elam and all her multitude around her grave; all of them slain, fallen by the sword, who are gone down uncircumcised into the lower parts of the earth, who caused their terror in the land of the living, and have borne their shame with those who go down to the pit.
- They have set her a bed in the midst of the slain with all her multitude; her graves are around her; all of them uncircumcised, slain by the sword; for their terror was caused in the land of the living, and they have borne their shame with those who go down to the pit: he is put in the midst of those who are slain.
- There is Meshech, Tubal, and all their multitude; their graves are around them; all of them uncircumcised, slain by the sword; for they caused their terror in the land of the living.
- They shall not lie with the mighty who are fallen of the uncircumcised, who are gone down to Sheol with their weapons of war, and have laid their swords under their heads, and their iniquities are on their bones; for [they were] the terror of the mighty in the land of the living.
- But you shall be broken in the midst of the uncircumcised, and shall lie with those who are slain by the sword.
- There is Edom, her kings and all her princes, who in their might are laid with those who are slain by the sword: they shall lie with the uncircumcised, and with those who go down to the pit.
- There are the princes of the north, all of them, and all the Sidonians, who are gone down with the slain; in the terror which they caused by their might they are put to shame; and they lie uncircumcised with those who are slain by the sword, and bear their shame with those who go down to the pit.
- Pharaoh shall see them, and shall be comforted over all his multitude, even Pharaoh and all his army, slain by the sword, says the Lord Yahweh.
- For I have put his terror in the land of the living; and he shall be laid in the midst of the uncircumcised, with those who are slain by the sword, even Pharaoh and all his multitude, says the Lord Yahweh.

- ויהי בשתי עשרה שנה בשני־עשר חדש באחד לחדש היה דבר־יהוה אלי לאמר׃
- בן־אדם שא קינה על־פרעה מלך־מצרים ואמרת אליו כפיר גוים נדמית ואתה כתנים בימים ותגח בנהרותיך ותדלח־מים ברגליך ותרפס נהרותם׃
- כה אמר אדני יהוה ופרשתי עליך את־רשתי בקהל עמים רבים והעלוך בחרמי׃
- ונטשתיך בארץ על־פני השדה אטילך והשכנתי עליך כל־עוף השמים והשבעתי ממך חית כל־הארץ׃
- ונתתי את־בשרך על־ההרים ומלאתי הגאיות רמותך׃
- והשקיתי ארץ צפתך מדמך אל־ההרים ואפקים ימלאון ממך׃
- וכסיתי בכבותך שמים והקדרתי את־ככביהם שמש בעןן אכסנו וירח לא־יאיר אורו׃
- כל־מאורי אור בשמים אקדירם עליך ונתתי חשך על־ארצך נאם אדני יהוה׃
- והכעסתי לב עמים רבים בהביאי שברך בגוים על־ארצות אשר לא־ידעתם׃
- והשמותי עליך עמים רבים ומלכיהם ישערו עליך שער בעופפי חרבי על־פניהם וחרדו לרגעים איש לנפשו ביום מפלתך׃ ס
- כי כה אמר אדני יהוה חרב מלך־בבל תבואך׃
- בחרבות גבורים אפיל המונך עריצי גוים כלם ושדדו את־גאון מצרים ונשמד כל־המונה׃
- והאבדתי את־כל־בהמתה מעל מים רבים ולא תדלחם רגל־אדם עוד ופרסות בהמה לא תדלחם׃
- אז אשקיע מימיהם ונהרותם כשמן אוליך נאם אדני יהוה׃
- בתתי את־ארץ מצרים שממה ונשמה ארץ ממלאה בהכותי את־כל־יושבי בה וידעו כי־אני יהוה׃
- קינה היא וקוננוה בנות הגוים תקוננה אותה על־מצרים ועל־כל־המונה תקוננה אותה נאם אדני יהוה׃ ף
- ויהי בשתי עשרה שנה בחמשה עשר לחדש היה דבר־יהוה אלי לאמר׃
- בן־אדם נהה על־המון מצרים והורדהו אותה ובנות גוים אדרם אל־ארץ תחתיות את־יורדי בור׃
- ממי נעמת רדה והשכבה את־ערלים׃
- בתוך חללי־חרב יפלו חרב נתנה משכו אותה וכל־המוניה׃
- ידברו־לו אלי גבורים מתוך שאול את־עזריו ירדו שכבו הערלים חללי־חרב׃
- שם אשור וכל־קהלה סביבותיו קברתיו כלם חללים הנפלים בחרב׃
- אשר נתנו קברתיה בירכתי־בור ויהי קהלה סביבות קברתה כלם חללים נפלים בחרב אשר־נתנו חתית בארץ חיים׃
- שם עילם וכל־המונה סביבות קברתה כלם חללים הנפלים בחרב אשר־ירדו ערלים אל־ארץ תחתיות אשר נתנו חתיתם בארץ חיים וישאו כלמתם את־יורדי בור׃
- בתוך חללים נתנו משכב לה בכל־המונה סביבותיו קברתה כלם ערלים חללי־חרב כי־נתן חתיתם בארץ חיים וישאו כלמתם את־יורדי בור בתוך חללים נתן׃
- שם משך תבל וכל־המונה סביבותיו קברותיה כלם ערלים מחללי חרב כי־נתנו חתיתם בארץ חיים׃
- ולא ישכבו את־גבורים נפלים מערלים אשר ירדו־שאול בכלי־מלחמתם ויתנו את־חרבותם תחת ראשיהם ותהי עונתם על־עצמותם כי־חתית גבורים בארץ חיים׃
- ואתה בתוך ערלים תשבר ותשכב את־חללי־חרב׃
- שמה אדום מלכיה וכל־נשיאיה אשר־נתנו בגבורתם את־חללי־חרב המה את־ערלים ישכבו ואת־ירדי בור׃
- שמה נסיכי צפון כלם וכל־צדני אשר־ירדו את־חללים בחתיתם מגבורתם בושים וישכבו ערלים את־חללי־חרב וישאו כלמתם את־יורדי בור׃
- אותם יראה פרעה ונחם על־כל־ חללי־חרב פרעה וכל־חילו נאם אדני יהוה׃
- כי־נתתי את־ בארץ חיים והשכב בתוך ערלים את־חללי־חרב פרעה וכל־המונה נאם אדני יהוה׃ ף

- Et factum est, duodecimo anno, in mense duodecimo, in una mensis : factum est verbum Domini ad me, dicens :
- Fili hominis, assume lamentum super Pharaonem regem Ægypti, et dices ad eum : Leoni gentium assimilatus es, et draconi qui est in mari, et ventilabas cornu in fluminibus tuis, et conturbabas aquas pedibus tuis, et conculcabas flumina earum.
- Propterea hæc dicit Dominus Deus : Expandam super te rete meum in multitudine populorum multorum, et extraham te in sagena mea.
- Et projiciam te in terram ; super faciem agri abjiciam te : et habitare faciam super te omnia volatilia cæli, et saturabo de te bestias universæ terræ.
- Et dabo carnes tuas super montes, et implebo colles tuos sanie tua.
- Et irrigabo terram fœtore sanguinis tui super montes, et valles implebuntur ex te.
- Et operiam, cum extinctus fueris, cælum, et nigrescere faciam stellas ejus : solem nube tegam, et luna non dabit lumen suum.
- Omnia luminaria cæli mœrere faciam super te : et dabo tenebras super terram tuam, dicit Dominus Deus, cum ceciderint vulnerati tui in medio terræ, ait Dominus Deus.
- Et irritabo cor populorum multorum : cum induxero contritionem tuam in gentibus super terras quas nescis.
- Et stupescere faciam super te populos multos, et reges eorum horrore nimio formidabunt super te, cum volare cœperit gladius meus super facies eorum : et obstupescent repente singuli pro anima sua in die ruinæ tuæ.
- Quia hæc dicit Dominus Deus : Gladius regis Babylonis veniet tibi.
- In gladiis fortium dejiciam multitudinem tuam : inexpugnabiles omnes gentes hæ, et vastabunt superbiam Ægypti, et dissipabitur multitudo ejus.
- Et perdam omnia jumenta ejus, quæ erant super aquas plurimas : et non conturbabit eas pes hominis ultra, neque ungula jumentorum turbabit eas.
- Tunc purissimas reddam aquas eorum, et flumina eorum quasi oleum adducam, ait Dominus Deus,
- cum dedero terram Ægypti desolatam : deseretur autem terra a plenitudine sua, quando percussero omnes habitatores ejus : et scient quia ego Dominus.
- Planctus est, et plangent eum, filiæ gentium plangent eum : super Ægyptum et super multitudinem ejus plangent eum, ait Dominus Deus.
- Et factum est in duodecimo anno, in quintadecima mensis : factum est verbum Domini ad me, dicens :
- Fili hominis, cane lugubre super multitudinem Ægypti : et detrahe eam ipsam, et filias gentium robustarum, ad terram ultimam, cum his qui descendunt in lacum.
- Quo pulchrior es ? descende, et dormi cum incircumcisis.
- In medio interfectorum gladio cadent : gladius datus est ; attraxerunt eam et omnes populos ejus.
- Loquentur ei potentissimi robustorum de medio inferni, qui cum auxiliatoribus ejus descenderunt, et dormierunt incircumcisi interfecti gladio.
- Ibi Assur, et omnis multitudo ejus : in circuitu illius sepulchra ejus, omnes interfecti, et qui ceciderunt gladio.
- Quorum data sunt sepulchra in novissimis laci, et facta est multitudo ejus per gyrum sepulchri ejus : universi interfecti, cadentesque gladio, qui dederant quondam formidinem in terra viventium.
- Ibi Ælam, et omnis multitudo ejus per gyrum sepulchri sui : omnes hi interfecti, ruentesque gladio, qui descenderunt incircumcisi ad terram ultimam, qui posuerunt terrorem suum in terra viventium, et portaverunt ignominiam suam cum his qui descendunt in lacum.
- In medio interfectorum posuerunt cubile ejus in universis populis ejus : in circuitu ejus sepulchrum illius : omnes hi incircumcisi, interfectique gladio. Dederunt enim terrorem suum in terra viventium, et portaverunt ignominiam suam cum his qui descendunt in lacum : in medio interfectorum positi sunt.
- Ibi Mosoch et Thubal, et omnis multitudo ejus : in circuitu ejus sepulchra illius : omnes hi incircumcisi, interfectique et cadentes gladio, quia dederunt formidinem suam in terra viventium.
- Et non dormient cum fortibus, cadentibusque, et incircumcisis, qui descenderunt ad infernum cum armis suis, et posuerunt gladios suos sub capitibus suis, et fuerunt iniquitates eorum in ossibus eorum : quia terror fortium facti sunt in terra viventium.
- Et tu ergo in medio incircumcisorum contereris, et dormies cum interfectis gladio.
- Ibi Idumæa, et reges ejus, et omnes duces ejus, qui dati sunt cum exercitu suo cum interfectis gladio, et qui cum incircumcisis dormierunt, et cum his qui descendunt in lacum.
- Ibi principes aquilonis omnes, et universi venatores, qui deducti sunt cum interfectis, paventes, et in sua fortitudine confusi : qui dormierunt incircumcisi cum interfectis gladio, et portaverunt confusionem suam cum his qui descendunt in lacum.
- Vidit eos Pharao, et consolatus est super universa multitudine sua, quæ interfecta est gladio : Pharao, et omnis exercitus ejus, ait Dominus Deus.
- Quia dedi terrorem meum in terra viventium, et dormivit in medio incircumcisorum cum interfectis gladio : Pharao, et omnis multitudo ejus, ait Dominus Deus.

- Son of man, take up a lamentation for Pharaoh king of Egypt, and say unto him, Thou art like a young lion of the nations, and thou art as a whale in the seas: and thou camest forth with thy rivers, and troubledst the waters with thy feet, and fouledst their rivers.
- Thus saith the Lord GOD; I will therefore spread out my net over thee with a company of many people; and they shall bring thee up in my net.
- Then will I leave thee upon the land, I will cast thee forth upon the open field, and will cause all the fowls of the heaven to remain upon thee, and I will fill the beasts of the whole earth with thee.
- And I will lay thy flesh upon the mountains, and fill the valleys with thy height.
- I will also water with thy blood the land wherein thou swimmest, even to the mountains; and the rivers shall be full of thee.
