- The priests the Levites, [even] all the tribe of Levi, shall have no portion nor inheritance with Israel: they shall eat the offerings of Yahweh made by fire, and his inheritance.
- They shall have no inheritance among their brothers: Yahweh is their inheritance, as he has spoken to them.
- This shall be the priests' due from the people, from those who offer a sacrifice, whether it be ox or sheep, that they shall give to the priest the shoulder, and the two cheeks, and the maw.
- The first fruits of your grain, of your new wine, and of your oil, and the first of the fleece of your sheep, you shall give him.
- For Yahweh your God has chosen him out of all your tribes, to stand to minister in the name of Yahweh, him and his sons for ever.
- If a Levite comes from any of your gates out of all Israel, where he lives as a foreigner, and comes with all the desire of his soul to the place which Yahweh shall choose;
- then he shall minister in the name of Yahweh his God, as all his brothers the Levites do, who stand there before Yahweh.
- They shall have like portions to eat, besides that which comes of the sale of his patrimony.
- When you are come into the land which Yahweh your God gives you, you shall not learn to do after the abominations of those nations.
- There shall not be found with you anyone who makes his son or his daughter to pass through the fire, one who uses divination, one who practices sorcery, or an enchanter, or a sorcerer,
- or a charmer, or a consulter with a familiar spirit, or a wizard, or a necromancer.
- For whoever does these things is an abomination to Yahweh: and because of these abominations Yahweh your God does drive them out from before you.
- You shall be perfect with Yahweh your God.
- For these nations, that you shall dispossess, listen to those who practice sorcery, and to diviners; but as for you, Yahweh your God has not allowed you so to do.
- Yahweh your God will raise up to you a prophet from the midst of you, of your brothers, like me. You shall listen to him.
- This is according to all that you desired of Yahweh your God in Horeb in the day of the assembly, saying, "Let me not hear again the voice of Yahweh my God, neither let me see this great fire any more, that I not die."
- Yahweh said to me, "They have well said that which they have spoken.
- I will raise them up a prophet from among their brothers, like you; and I will put my words in his mouth, and he shall speak to them all that I shall command him.
- It shall happen, that whoever will not listen to my words which he shall speak in my name, I will require it of him.
- But the prophet, who shall speak a word presumptuously in my name, which I have not commanded him to speak, or who shall speak in the name of other gods, that same prophet shall die."
- If you say in your heart, "How shall we know the word which Yahweh has not spoken?"
- when a prophet speaks in the name of Yahweh, if the thing doesn't follow, nor happen, that is the thing which Yahweh has not spoken: the prophet has spoken it presumptuously, you shall not be afraid of him.

- לא־יהיה לכהנים הלוים כל־שבט לוי חלק ונחלה עם־ישראל אשי יהוה ונחלתו יאכלון׃
- ונחלה לא־יהיה־לו בקרב אחיו יהוה הוא נחלתו כאשר דבר־לו׃ ס
- וזה יהיה משפט הכהנים מאת העם מאת זבחי הזבח אם־שור אם־שה ונתן לכהן הזרע והלחיים והקבה׃
- ראשית דגנך תירשך ויצהרך וראשית גז צאנך תתן־לו׃
- כי בו בחר יהוה אלהיך מכל־שבטיך לעמד לשרת בשם־יהוה הוא ובניו כל־הימים׃ ס
- וכי־יבא הלוי מאחד שעריך מכל־ישראל אשר־הוא גר שם ובא בכל־אות נפשו אל־המקום אשר־יבחר יהוה׃
- ושרת בשם יהוה אלהיו ככל־אחיו הלוים העמדים שם לפני יהוה׃
- חלק כחלק יאכלו לבד ממכריו על־האבות׃ ס
- כי אתה בא אל־הארץ אשר־יהוה אלהיך נתן לך לא־תלמד לעשות כתועבת הגוים ההם׃
- לא־ימצא בך מעביר בנו־ובתו באש קסם קסמים מעוןן ומנחש ומכשף׃
- וחבר חבר ושאל אוב וידעני ודרש אל־המתים׃
- כי־תועבת יהוה כל־עשה אלה ובגלל התועבת האלה יהוה אלהיך מוריש אותם מפניך׃
- תמים תהיה עם יהוה אלהיך׃ ס
- כי הגוים האלה אשר אתה יורש אותם אל־מעננים ואל־קסמים ישמעו ואתה לא כן נתן לך יהוה אלהיך׃
- נביא מקרבך מאחיך כמני יקים לך יהוה אלהיך אליו תשמעון׃
- ככל אשר־שאלת מעם יהוה אלהיך בחרב ביום הקהל לאמר לא אסף לשמע את־קול יהוה אלהי ואת־האש הגדלה הזאת לא־אראה עוד ולא אמות׃
- ויאמר יהוה אלי היטיבו אשר דברו׃
- נביא אקים להם מקרב אחיהם כמוך ונתתי דברי בפיו ודבר אליהם את כל־אשר אצונו׃
- והיה האיש אשר לא־ישמע אל־דברי אשר ידבר בשמי אנכי אדרש מעמו׃
- אך הנביא אשר יזיד לדבר דבר בשמי את אשר לא־צויתיו לדבר ואשר ידבר בשם אלהים אחרים ומת הנביא ההוא׃
- וכי תאמר בלבבך איכה נדע את־הדבר אשר לא־דברו יהוה׃
- אשר ידבר הנביא בשם יהוה ולא־יהיה הדבר ולא יבוא הוא הדבר אשר לא־דברו יהוה בזדון דברו הנביא לא תגור ממנו׃ ס

- Non habebunt sacerdotes et Levitæ, et omnes qui de eadem tribu sunt, partem et hæreditatem cum reliquo Israël, quia sacrificia Domini, et oblationes ejus comedent,
- et nihil aliud accipient de possessione fratrum suorum : Dominus enim ipse est hæreditas eorum, sicut locutus est illis.
- Hoc erit judicium sacerdotum a populo, et ab his qui offerunt victimas : sive bovem, sive ovem immolaverint, dabunt sacerdoti armum ac ventriculum :
- primitias frumenti, vini, et olei, et lanarum partem ex ovium tonsione.
- Ipsum enim elegit Dominus Deus tuus de cunctis tribubus tuis, ut stet, et ministret nomini Domini, ipse, et filii ejus in sempiternum.
- Si exierit Levites ex una urbium tuarum ex omni Israël in qua habitat, et voluerit venire, desiderans locum quem elegerit Dominus,
- ministrabit in nomine Domini Dei sui, sicut omnes fratres ejus Levitæ, qui stabunt eo tempore coram Domino.
- Partem ciborum eamdem accipiet, quam et ceteri : excepto eo, quod in urbe sua ex paterna ei successione debetur.
- Quando ingressus fueris terram, quam Dominus Deus tuus dabit tibi, cave ne imitari velis abominationes illarum gentium.
- Nec inveniatur in te qui lustret filium suum, aut filiam, ducens per ignem : aut qui ariolos sciscitetur, et observet somnia atque auguria, nec sit maleficus,
- nec incantantor, nec qui pythones consulat, nec divinos, aut quærat a mortuis veritatem.
- Omnia enim hæc abominatur Dominus, et propter istiusmodi scelera delebit eos in introitu tuo.
- Perfectus eris, et absque macula cum Domino Deo tuo.
- Gentes istæ, quarum possidebis terram, augures et divinos audiunt : tu autem a Domino Deo tuo aliter institutus es.
- Prophetam de gente tua et de fratribus tuis, sicut me, suscitabit tibi Dominus Deus tuus : ipsum audies,
- ut petisti a Domino Deo tuo in Horeb, quando concio congregata est, atque dixisti : Ultra non audiam vocem Domini Dei mei, et ignem hunc maximum amplius non videbo, ne moriar.
- Et ait Dominus mihi : Bene omnia sunt locuti.
- Prophetam suscitabo eis de medio fratrum suorum similem tui : et ponam verba mea in ore ejus, loqueturque ad eos omnia quæ præcepero illi.
- Qui autem verba ejus, quæ loquetur in nomine meo, audire noluerit, ego ultor existam.
- Propheta autem qui arrogantia depravatus voluerit loqui in nomine meo, quæ ego non præcepi illi ut diceret, aut ex nomine alienorum deorum, interficietur.
- Quod si tacita cogitatione responderis : Quomodo possum intelligere verbum, quod Dominus non est locutus ?
- hoc habebis signum : quod in nomine Domini propheta ille prædixerit, et non evenerit : hoc Dominus non est locutus, sed per tumorem animi sui propheta confinxit : et idcirco non timebis eum.

- Therefore shall they have no inheritance among their brethren: the LORD is their inheritance, as he hath said unto them.
- And this shall be the priest's due from the people, from them that offer a sacrifice, whether it be ox or sheep; and they shall give unto the priest the shoulder, and the two cheeks, and the maw.
- The firstfruit also of thy corn, of thy wine, and of thine oil, and the first of the fleece of thy sheep, shalt thou give him.
- For the LORD thy God hath chosen him out of all thy tribes, to stand to minister in the name of the LORD, him and his sons for ever.
- And if a Levite come from any of thy gates out of all Israel, where he sojourned, and come with all the desire of his mind unto the place which the LORD shall choose;
- Then he shall minister in the name of the LORD his God, as all his brethren the Levites do, which stand there before the LORD.

- When thou art come into the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee, thou shalt not learn to do after the abominations of those nations.

- When a prophet speaketh in the name of the LORD, if the thing follow not, nor come to pass, that is the thing which the LORD hath not spoken, but the prophet hath spoken it presumptuously: thou shalt not be afraid of him.
