- Then Bildad the Shuhite answered,
- "Dominion and fear are with him. He makes peace in his high places.
- Can his armies be counted? On whom does his light not arise?
- How then can man be just with God? Or how can he who is born of a woman be clean?
- Behold, even the moon has no brightness, and the stars are not pure in his sight;
- How much less man, who is a worm, the son of man, who is a worm!"

- ויען בלדד השחי ויאמר׃
- המשל ופחד עמו עשה שלום במרומיו׃
- היש מספר לגדודיו ועל־מי לא־יקום אורהו׃
- ומה־יצדק אנוש עם־אל ומה־יזכה ילוד אשה׃
- הן עד־ירח ולא יאהיל וכוכבים לא־זכו בעיניו׃
- אף כי־אנוש רמה ובן־אדם תולעה׃ ף

- Respondens autem Baldad Suhites, dixit :
- Potestas et terror apud eum est, qui facit concordiam in sublimibus suis.
- Numquid est numerus militum ejus ? et super quem non surget lumen illius ?
- Numquid justificari potest homo comparatus Deo ? aut apparere mundus natus de muliere ?
- Ecce luna etiam non splendet, et stellæ non sunt mundæ in conspectu ejus :
- quanto magis homo putredo, et filius hominis vermis !
