The Ebionites (Hebrew: אביונים - "the Poor Ones") were an early Jewish-Christian sect who did not acknowledge the full deity of Jesus Christ.

The Ebionites (Hebrew: אביונים - "the Poor Ones") were an early Jewish-Christian sect who did not acknowledge the full deity of Jesus Christ.

Ebionite teachings

Ebionites emphasized the unity of God. They recognized the Jewish Law as binding and saw Jesus as the new Moses. Jesus was a man who became the Messiah by virtue of fulfillment of the Law. They rejected of virgin birth and believed that Jesus would return to reign on earth. An edited version of Matthew's Gospel was used.
