Hebrew והמוכס היה עמד מרחוק ולא אבה אף לשאת את עיניו לשמים כי אם תופף על לבו לאמר אלהים סלח לי החוטא׃
Greek ο δε τελωνης μακροθεν εστως ουκ ηθελεν ουδε τους οφθαλμους επαραι εις τον ουρανον αλλ ετυπτεν το στηθος λεγων ο θεος ιλασθητι μοι τω αμαρτωλω
Latin Et publicanus a longe stans, nolebat nec oculos ad cælum levare : sed percutiebat pectus suum, dicens : Deus propitius esto mihi peccatori.
KJV And the publican, standing afar off, would not lift up so much as his eyes unto heaven, but smote upon his breast, saying, God be merciful to me a sinner.
