Bhutan is one of the most isolated nations in the world with foreign influences and tourism heavily regulated by the government to preserve its traditional Tibetan Buddhist culture. Mahayana Buddhism is the state religion and there is persecution of followers of other religions. Christians are not allowed to pray ot worship in public, or meet together in house gatherings.
