Infant baptism (pedobaptism or christening) is the practice of baptising babies or very young children where it is taught to either bring about or to symbolize forgiveness of sins for that child and his entry into the church.

Infant baptism occurs in many denominations including Roman Catholic, Eastern Orthodox, Lutheran and Anglican denominations. The practice is rejected however by a number of denominations that teach that it is not a biblical nor logical practice, including the Baptist churches.
