The King James Version is an English translation of the Bible, commissioned for the Church of England at the request of King James I of England. It was first published in 1611 and has had a profound impact on the church in England and also on English literature as a whole. It is in the Public Domain except for the United Kingdom where it has perpetual Crown Copyright.
