In brief, God is the central being. He created the Earth. He created man in His own image and He is the Father of all. God is mercy and is all that is love. Over 2 billion people in the world confess God as their Lord and savior. He is a personal being, who is three in one - Father, Son and Holy Spirit. God has been here since the beginning. And He performs miracles in the world today. God stands ready to come into your life when you confess him and repent, this is when you are born again. God states in the Bible that his followers after the end of the World will be with Him eternally in Heaven while those who do not confess Him will be eternally separated in Hell.
In brief, The word Bible comes from the Greek word for book and has come to be used to refer to the complete collection of documents acknowledged by Christians to be inspired by God. Inspired by God means literally, "God breathed" - the actual words of God. This library contains 66 books and is divided into the Old and the New Testament. It tells of the story of the creation of the universe and man by God, the rebellion of man against God and his rescue plan for humanity through his Son, Jesus Christ.

An extract from Bruce Barton's book The Man Nobody Knows

:On a barren hill beyond the city walls they nailed His body to the cross. Two robbers were crucified with Him. It was over. The rabble sickened quickly of its revenge and scattered; His friends were hiding; the soldiers were busy casting lots for His garments. There was nothing left of those external influences which fire men's imaginations. Surely the victory of His enemies was complete. And yet - the lasting victory was His. "The man who loses his life," Jesus said, "shall find it."

Luke 23: 26 - 47

:As they led him away, they seized Simon from Cyrene, who was on his way in from the country, and put the cross on him and made him carry it behind Jesus. A large number of people followed him, including women who mourned and wailed for him. Jesus turned and said to them, "Daughters of Jerusalem, do not weep for me; weep for yourselves and for your children. For the time will come when you will say, 'Blessed are the barren women, the wombs that never bore and the breasts that never nursed!' Then they will say to the mountains, 'Fall on us!' and to the hills, 'Cover us!' For if men do these things when the tree is green, what will happen when it is dry?"

:Two other men, both criminals, were also led out with him to be executed. When they came to the place called the Skull, there they crucified him, along with the criminals–one on his right, the other on his left. Jesus said, "Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing." And they divided up his clothes by casting lots.

:The people stood watching, and the rulers even sneered at him. They said, "He saved others; let him save himself if he is the Christ of God, the Chosen One."

:The soldiers also came up and mocked him. They offered him wine vinegar and said, "If you are the king of the Jews, save yourself."

:There was a written notice above him, which read: THIS IS THE KING OF THE JEWS.

:One of the criminals who hung there hurled insults at him: "Aren't you the Christ? Save yourself and us!"

:But the other criminal rebuked him. "Don't you fear God," he said, "since you are under the same sentence? We are punished justly, for we are getting what our deeds deserve. But this man has done nothing wrong."

:Then he said, “Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom."

:Jesus answered him, "I tell you the truth, today you will be with me in paradise."

:It was now about the sixth hour, and darkness came over the whole land until the ninth hour, for the sun stopped shining. And the curtain of the temple was torn in two. 46Jesus called out with a loud voice, "Father, into your hands I commit my spirit." When he had said this, he breathed his last.
An extract from I will love you for the cross by Matt Redman

:Jesus Christ the sinner's friend.
:Does this kindness know no bounds?
:With your precious blood you have purchased me
:Oh the mystery of the cross
:You were punished, you were crushed
:But that punishment has become my peace

:Yes that punishment has become my peace

:And I love you for the cross
:I'm overwhelmed by the mystery
:I love you for the cost
:That Jesus you would do this for me
:When you were broken, you were beaten
:You were punished, I go free
:When you were wounded and rejected
:In your mercy I am healed

I'd recommend the "adapted from Theopedia" be removed from the title and instead inserted at the bottom of the article. Or perhaps make a template for articles adapted from Theopedia. Articles on Theopedia are under the FDL, much like articles on Wikichristian. I think that having the "adapted" part in the title sometimes discourages future contributors from changes portions of it. We obviously want to give credit, but I'm not sure the title is the best place for it. Anyone agree or disagree with me? Cpark 23:52, 11 Oct 2005 (EDT)
Absolutely. I agree. Rename the file

I moved it again to remove Theopedia completely from the title. I'll add an "adapted from theopedia" notice at the bottom of the page. My thinking is this is how we should do all theopedia and wikipedia articles. My logic is that once we copy and paste, we have forked the article, and therefore we are going to take it in a different direction then theopedia or wikipedia would, hence it becomes distinctly ours. It is the most widely read book in the world and has been translated into hundreds of languages. ==Directory Listing of Churches==

Please visit the Directory listing of churches around the world and add your church into the database. It would be a wonderful and remarkable thing if WikiChristian could have a listing of all the churches in the world with a short description of the church making a note of the service times and the address. For example, the church I go to is St Matthew's and St Bart's Anglican Churches in Adelaide, South Australia, which can be reached by following: Churches in Australasia and the Pacific islands -> Churches in Australia -> Churches in South Australia -> Churches in Adelaide and its suburbs. So, if your a regular attender of a church, why not add it to the database? --Graham grove 09:48, 19 Sep 2005 (EDT)
I've noticed that the inclusion of the Category:Stub link doesn't appear to actually add the articles to the Stub Category. Because of this I've been including the Category:Stub tag seperatly on stub pages. Can someone verify that it must be seperate from the template? I think adding it to the template only adds the template to the category, not every page based on the template. Cpark 23:58, 11 Oct 2005 (EDT)

Hey all, just wanted to let you all know I'm still around. I've been working quite a bit on school work, so I haven't had a great amount of time to put stuff on Wikichristian. I do have a few small things I've been working on though that should hopefully go up before long. I do still check in on a daily basis though. :)

Update Mar 06 2005
Again, just wanted to let you know I'm still around. I am swamped with school work right now. So I'm not doing alot of internet browsing. I'm even lurking less at X. At anyrate, I'm planning on contributing some more after I get done with this semester. Some of my projects that I'm doing for school would make some good articles I think. So anyway...yeah...I still lurk around and make an edit here and there.

Update Apr 15 2005
Just a quick update to let everyone know I'm still wrong. I've been busy with school work (finishing up my undergrad degree), but that is almost done (three weeks left!), so hopefully I'll have somemore time to devote to various endevours once I'm done with school. I'm still around, just don't have a lot of time to edit and such.

:I moved your comment to my talk page :) Thank you for the welcome, I'd be glad to help as a SysOp and I hope that I can contribute to the project. I can understand your Norwegian, that's no problem, but I prefer writing in English so that everybody understands. What I think for the project right now is the foundation of some basic policies, not so complete and complicated as Wikimedia's but more like guidelines for new users. ::Etnoy, good to have you here. It's always nice to see new users joining. I agree with you that I think we are in a formative stage. We need to develop some policies, vision, and goals for the coming year so that we can start to grow. Prab has been doing a great job in all this. I've been involved in several wiki projects, and this is by far the most friendly and cooperative I've seen. Anyway, have a good one. == Statistics? ==

Hi Prab, I just had a quick question about something before I head off and start a paper (For Dan-Rev...yay!). Anyway, my question was were are our statistics? Most wiki's have a statistics link right on front page (Currently working on xxxxx articles) and you can click on the number and see some statistics. I know we're using media wiki so the functionality must be there. Is there a reason we don't currently have a link to statistics?

Nevermind...I found it. Guess I just need to actually look before I ask. :) Cpark 07:33, 12 Mar 2005 (PST)

----
Hi Cpark,
It has been a pleasure for me too and I appreciate the wonderful spirit you have and the innovative ideas you bring in. You and Graham have been wonderful friends.

As per the statistics, we just did not want to have them on the mainpage as yet since we would like to grow to a reasonable number of articles before we can have them on the front page.

Just a note on the vision -

Let us keep the vision of wikichristian broad, to be a meta christian resource linking and reviewing everything christian on the planet and creating content where there is none. We do not have to or want to "reinvent the wheel", if the work has already been done somewhere on the internet, we will just review and link it.

-Prab

Prab, agreed about the vision. I think that the only time we need to "reinvent" the wheel is if something isn't being maintained (ie, Easton's Bible Dictionary is 100 years old and we can help to update it in a wiki environment...some with the KJV, though WEB is doing something like that, just not in a wiki environment. I view our stuff with the KJV to be more like making a study bible). Have I done something that doens't line up with keeping the vision broad? My idea with the goals is just to give us something to shoot for, not to limit what we can do. But kindda to set priorities...could I word something differently to not limit us? Or were you just giving a general statement? Cpark 05:01, 13 Mar 2005 (PST)

I was just thinking about something. If we call this Easton's Bible Dictionary...that's okay. But as we review and edit and add to it (you know, do those things that make a wiki a wiki) it will eventually be quite different from the original EBD. Maybe we should change the name to "WikiChristian's Bible Dictionary" and just say that it is BASED on the EBD. That way a year or two down the road, when we've edited things with it...we are still acurrate in the name. What does everyone think? Also, by linking to the external EBD we still give people a chance to see the original text of the EBD. Cpark 08:39, 11 Mar 2005 (PST)
----
Hi Cpark,

I think it makes perfect sense to change the name since the idea was to develop a free wiki bible dictionary. Since we do not want to reinvent the wheel, we would like to use what ever is already in the public domain. EBD is one of the Bible Dictionaries in the PD but there are others also. We will change the name to WikiChristian's Free Bible Dictionary or in short FBD. Thanks for the excellent point. We need to think ahead while naming our projects, like in this situation, so that, when the wiki evolves, it does not have to change the name. Prab 6:45 PM, 11 Mar 2005 (EST)

Prab, I think this makes sense. I looked through the recent changes and I was like..."wow." Thanks for saving me the trouble of moving most of the stuff! One last question....do we want the FBD pages to link to the main article (ie, "Abraham") or do we want them to link to the FBD page (ie "Free_Bible_Dictionary:Abraham") I know that in some cases we have a great number of articles written about someone (take Peter for instance. The "Peter" article links to Graham's article on the papacy, a short biography of Peter, and eventually it will also link to the FBD article on Peter. So, in my thinking we'll want the FBD index pages to just link directly to the FBD article and save users an extra click...but what does everyone else think?
