Now Absalom in his lifetime had taken and reared up for himself the pillar, which is in the king's dale; for he said, "I have no son to keep my name in memory." He called the pillar after his own name; and it is called Absalom's monument, to this day.

Hebrew ואבשלם לקח ויצב־לו את־מצבת אשר בעמק־המלך כי אמר אין־לי בן בעבור הזכיר שמי ויקרא למצבת על־שמו ויקרא לה יד אבשלם עד היום הזה׃ ס
Greek και αβεσσαλωμ ετι ζων και εστησεν εαυτω την στηλην εν η ελημφθη και εστηλωσεν αυτην λαβειν την στηλην την εν τη κοιλαδι του βασιλεως οτι ειπεν ουκ εστιν αυτω υιος ενεκεν του αναμνησαι το ονομα αυτου και εκαλεσεν την στηλην χειρ αβεσσαλωμ εως της ημερας
Latin Porro Absalom erexerat sibi, cum adhuc viveret, titulum qui est in Valle regis : dixerat enim : Non habeo filium, et hoc erit monimentum nominis mei. Vocavitque titulum nomine suo, et appellatur Manus Absalom, usque ad hanc diem.
