- I lifted up my eyes, and saw, and behold, a man with a measuring line in his hand.
- Then I asked, "Where are you going?" He said to me, "To measure Jerusalem, to see what is its breadth and what is its length."
- Behold, the angel who talked with me went forth, and another angel went out to meet him,
- and said to him, "Run, speak to this young man, saying, 'Jerusalem will be inhabited as villages without walls, because of the multitude of men and livestock in it.
- For I,' says Yahweh, 'will be to her a wall of fire around it, and I will be the glory in the midst of her.
- Come! Come! Flee from the land of the north,' says Yahweh; 'for I have spread you abroad as the four winds of the sky,' says Yahweh.
- 'Come, Zion! Escape, you who dwell with the daughter of Babylon.'
- For thus says Yahweh of Armies: 'For honor he has sent me to the nations which plundered you; for he who touches you touches the apple of his eye.
- For, behold, I will shake my hand over them, and they will be a spoil to those who served them; and you will know that Yahweh of Armies has sent me.
- Sing and rejoice, daughter of Zion; for, behold, I come, and I will dwell in the midst of you,' says Yahweh.
- Many nations shall join themselves to Yahweh in that day, and shall be my people; and I will dwell in the midst of you, and you shall know that Yahweh of Armies has sent me to you.
- Yahweh will inherit Judah as his portion in the holy land, and will again choose Jerusalem.
- Be silent, all flesh, before Yahweh; for he has roused himself from his holy habitation!"

- ואשא עיני וארא והנה־איש ובידו חבל מדה׃
- ואמר אנה אתה הלך ויאמר אלי למד את־ירושלם לראות כמה־רחבה וכמה ארכה׃
- והנה המלאך הדבר בי יצא ומלאך אחר יצא לקראתו׃
- ויאמר אלוק רץ דבר אל־הנער הלז לאמר פרזות תשב ירושלם מרב אדם ובהמה בתוכה׃
- ואני אהיה־לה נאם־יהוה חומת אש סביב ולכבוד אהיה בתוכה׃ ף
- הוי הוי ונסו מארץ צפון נאם־יהוה כי כארבע רוחות השמים פרשתי אתכם נאם־יהוה׃
- הוי ציון המלטי יושבת בת־בבל׃ ס
- כי כה אמר יהוה צבאות אחר כבוד שלחני אל־הגוים השללים אתכם כי הנגע בכם נגע בבבת עינו׃
- כי הנני מניף את־ידי עליהם והיו שלל לעבדיהם וידעתם כי־יהוה צבאות שלחני׃ ס
- רני ושמחי בת־ציון כי הנני־בא ושכנתי בתוךך נאם־יהוה׃
- ונלוו גוים רבים אל־יהוה ביום ההוא והיו לי לעם ושכנתי בתוךך וידעת כי־יהוה צבאות שלחני אליך׃
- ונחל יהוה את־יהודה חלקו על אדמת הקדש ובחר עוד בירושלם׃
- הס כל־בשר מפני יהוה כי נעור ממעון קדשו׃ ס

- Et levavi oculos meos, et vidi, et ecce vir, et in manu ejus funiculus mensorum.
- Et dixi : Quo tu vadis ? Et dixit ad me : Ut metiar Jerusalem, et videam quanta sit latitudo ejus, et quanta longitudo ejus.
- Et ecce angelus qui loquebatur in me egrediebatur, et angelus alius egrediebatur in occursum ejus :
- et dixit ad eum : Curre, loquere ad puerum istum, dicens : Absque muro habitabitur Jerusalem, præ multitudine hominum et jumentorum in medio ejus.
- Et ego ero ei, ait Dominus, murus ignis in circuitu, et in gloria ero in medio ejus.
- O, o, fugite de terra aquilonis, dicit Dominus, quoniam in quatuor ventos cæli dispersi vos, dicit Dominus.
- O Sion ! fuge, quæ habitas apud filiam Babylonis :
- quia hæc dicit Dominus exercituum : Post gloriam misit me ad gentes quæ spoliaverunt vos : qui enim tetigerit vos, tangit pupillam oculi mei :
- quia ecce ego levo manum meam super eos, et erunt prædæ his qui serviebant sibi : et cognoscetis quia Dominus exercituum misit me.
- Lauda et lætare, filia Sion, quia ecce ego venio, et habitabo in medio tui, ait Dominus.
- Et applicabuntur gentes multæ ad Dominum in die illa, et erunt mihi in populum, et habitabo in medio tui : et scies quia Dominus exercituum misit me ad te.
- Et possidebit Dominus Judam partem suam in terra sanctificata, et eliget adhuc Jerusalem.
- Sileat omnis caro a facie Domini, quia consurrexit de habitaculo sancto suo.

- Then said I, Whither goest thou? And he said unto me, To measure Jerusalem, to see what is the breadth thereof, and what is the length thereof.
- And, behold, the angel that talked with me went forth, and another angel went out to meet him,
- And said unto him, Run, speak to this young man, saying, Jerusalem shall be inhabited as towns without walls for the multitude of men and cattle therein:
- For I, saith the LORD, will be unto her a wall of fire round about, and will be the glory in the midst of her.
- Ho, ho, come forth, and flee from the land of the north, saith the LORD: for I have spread you abroad as the four winds of the heaven, saith the LORD.
- Deliver thyself, O Zion, that dwellest with the daughter of Babylon.
- For thus saith the LORD of hosts; After the glory hath he sent me unto the nations which spoiled you: for he that toucheth you toucheth the apple of his eye.
- For, behold, I will shake mine hand upon them, and they shall be a spoil to their servants: and ye shall know that the LORD of hosts hath sent me.
- Sing and rejoice, O daughter of Zion: for, lo, I come, and I will dwell in the midst of thee, saith the LORD.
- And many nations shall be joined to the LORD in that day, and shall be my people: and I will dwell in the midst of thee, and thou shalt know that the LORD of hosts hath sent me unto thee.
- And the LORD shall inherit Judah his portion in the holy land, and shall choose Jerusalem again.
- Be silent, O all flesh, before the LORD: for he is raised up out of his holy habitation.
