Synopsis: Zacharias (also Zechariah) was a priest during the reign of King Herod the Great. He was the father of John the Baptist. His story is recorded in the gospel of Luke.

Zacharias (also Zechariah, which is the common spelling in modern English), was a priest of the line of Abijah, during the reign of King Herod the Great. He was the father of John the Baptist and husband of Elizabeth, a woman from the priestly family of Aaron. His story is recorded in the gospel of Luke.
