John 11 tells the story of [[Lazarus]] being raised from the dead. He was a close friend of [[Jesus]] who lived in [[Bethany]]. Jesus states the famous line in [[John 11:25]], "I am the resurrection, and the life...". The story climaxes with the Jesus calling Lazarus out of the tomb, and Lazarus walking out, alive! The story also contains the shortest verse, "[[Jesus wept]]" - [[John 11:35]]. The miracle, the longest coherent narrative in John aside from the Passion, is the climax of John's "signs" and leads directly to the decision of [[Caiaphas]] and the [[Sanhedrin]] to kill Jesus. John 11:35

Jesus wept.

"Jesus wept" is the shortest verse in the Bible. It is also one of the most beautiful and emotive. Lazarus, a friend of Jesus, had just died and so, having arrived at his tomb and seeing the pain and suffering that human sin and death bring, Jesus simply wept.
