  1. Every wise woman builds her house, but the foolish one tears it down with her own hands.
  2. He who walks in his uprightness fears Yahweh, but he who is perverse in his ways despises him.
  3. The fool's talk brings a rod to his back, but the lips of the wise protect them.
  4. Where no oxen are, the crib is clean, but much increase is by the strength of the ox.
  5. A truthful witness will not lie, but a false witness pours out lies.
  6. A scoffer seeks wisdom, and doesn't find it, but knowledge comes easily to a discerning person.
  7. Stay away from a foolish man, for you won't find knowledge on his lips.
  8. The wisdom of the prudent is to think about his way, but the folly of fools is deceit.
  9. Fools mock at making atonement for sins, but among the upright there is good will.
  10. The heart knows its own bitterness and joy; he will not share these with a stranger.
  11. The house of the wicked will be overthrown, but the tent of the upright will flourish.
  12. There is a way which seems right to a man, but in the end it leads to death.
  13. Even in laughter the heart may be sorrowful, and mirth may end in heaviness.
  14. The unfaithful will be repaid for his own ways; likewise a good man will be rewarded for his ways.
  15. A simple man believes everything, but the prudent man carefully considers his ways.
  16. A wise man fears, and shuns evil, but the fool is hotheaded and reckless.
  17. He who is quick to become angry will commit folly, and a crafty man is hated.
  18. The simple inherit folly, but the prudent are crowned with knowledge.
  19. The evil bow down before the good, and the wicked at the gates of the righteous.
  20. The poor person is shunned even by his own neighbor, but the rich person has many friends.
  21. He who despises his neighbor sins, but blessed is he who has pity on the poor.
  22. Don't they go astray who plot evil? But love and faithfulness belong to those who plan good.
  23. In all hard work there is profit, but the talk of the lips leads only to poverty.
  24. The crown of the wise is their riches, but the folly of fools crowns them with folly.
  25. A truthful witness saves souls, but a false witness is deceitful.
  26. In the fear of Yahweh is a secure fortress, and he will be a refuge for his children.
  27. The fear of Yahweh is a fountain of life, turning people from the snares of death.
  28. In the multitude of people is the king's glory, but in the lack of people is the destruction of the prince.
  29. He who is slow to anger has great understanding, but he who has a quick temper displays folly.
  30. The life of the body is a heart at peace, but envy rots the bones.
  31. He who oppresses the poor shows contempt for his Maker, but he who is kind to the needy honors him.
  32. The wicked is brought down in his calamity, but in death, the righteous has a refuge.
  33. Wisdom rests in the heart of one who has understanding, and is even made known in the inward part of fools.
  34. Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a disgrace to any people.
  35. The king's favor is toward a servant who deals wisely, but his wrath is toward one who causes shame.

  1. חכמות נשים בנתה ביתה ואולת בידיה תהרסנו׃
  2. הולך בישרו ירא יהוה ונלוז דרכיו בוזהו׃
  3. בפי־אויל חטר גאוה ושפתי חכמים תשמורם׃
  4. באין אלפים אבוס בר ורב־תבואות בכח שור׃
  5. עד אמונים לא יכזב ויפיח כזבים עד שקר׃
  6. בקש־לץ חכמה ואין ודעת לנבון נקל׃
  7. לך מנגד לאיש כסיל ובל־ידעת שפתי־דעת׃
  8. חכמת ערום הבין דרכו ואולת כסילים מרמה׃
  9. אולים יליץ אשם ובין ישרים רצון׃
  10. לב יודע מרת נפשו ובשמחתו לא־יתערב זר׃
  11. בית רשעים ישמד ואהל ישרים יפריח׃
  12. יש דרך ישר לפני־איש ואחריתה דרכי־מות׃
  13. גם־בשחוק יכאב־לב ואחריתה שמחה תוגה׃

  1. σοφαι γυναικες ωκοδομησαν οικους η δε αφρων κατεσκαψεν ταις χερσιν
  2. ο πορευομενος ορθως φοβειται τον κυριον ο δε σκολιαζων ταις οδοις αυτου
  3. εκ στοματος αφρονων βακτηρια υβρεως χειλη δε σοφων φυλασσει
  4. ου μη εισιν βοες φατναι καθαραι ου δε πολλα γενηματα φανερα βοος
  5. μαρτυς πιστος ου ψευδεται εκκαιει δε ψευδη μαρτυς
  6. ζητησεις σοφιαν παρα κακοις και ουχ ευρησεις αισθησις δε παρα φρονιμοις
  7. παντα εναντια ανδρι αφρονι οπλα δε αισθησεως χειλη
  8. σοφια πανουργων επιγνωσεται τας οδους αυτων ανοια δε αφρονων εν
  9. οικιαι παρανομων οφειλησουσιν καθαρισμον οικιαι δε δικαιων
  10. καρδια ανδρος αισθητικη λυπηρα ψυχη αυτου οταν δε ευφραινηται ουκ επιμειγνυται
  11. οικιαι ασεβων αφανισθησονται σκηναι δε κατορθουντων
  12. εστιν οδος η δοκει ορθη ειναι παρα ανθρωποις τα δε τελευταια αυτης ερχεται εις πυθμενα
  13. εν ευφροσυναις ου προσμειγνυται λυπη τελευταια δε χαρα εις πενθος
  14. των εαυτου οδων πλησθησεται θρασυκαρδιος απο δε των διανοηματων αυτου ανηρ
  15. ακακος πιστευει παντι λογω πανουργος δε ερχεται εις
  16. σοφος φοβηθεις εξεκλινεν απο κακου ο δε αφρων εαυτω πεποιθως μειγνυται
  17. οξυθυμος πρασσει μετα αβουλιας ανηρ δε φρονιμος πολλα
  18. μεριουνται αφρονες κακιαν οι δε πανουργοι κρατησουσιν
  19. ολισθησουσιν κακοι εναντι αγαθων και ασεβεις θεραπευσουσιν θυρας
  20. φιλοι μισησουσιν φιλους πτωχους φιλοι δε πλουσιων
  21. ο ατιμαζων πενητας αμαρτανει ελεων δε πτωχους
  22. πλανωμενοι τεκταινουσι κακα ελεον δε και αληθειαν τεκταινουσιν αγαθοι ουκ επιστανται ελεον και πιστιν τεκτονες κακων ελεημοσυναι δε και πιστεις παρα τεκτοσιν
  23. εν παντι μεριμνωντι ενεστιν περισσον ο δε ηδυς και αναλγητος εν ενδεια
  24. στεφανος σοφων πανουργος η δε διατριβη αφρονων
  25. ρυσεται εκ κακων ψυχην μαρτυς πιστος εκκαιει δε ψευδη
  26. εν φοβω κυριου ελπις ισχυος τοις δε τεκνοις αυτου καταλειπει
  27. προσταγμα κυριου πηγη ζωης ποιει δε εκκλινειν εκ παγιδος
  28. εν πολλω εθνει δοξα βασιλεως εν δε εκλειψει λαου συντριβη
  29. μακροθυμος ανηρ πολυς εν φρονησει ο δε ολιγοψυχος ισχυρως

  1. Sapiens mulier ædificat domum suam ; insipiens exstructam quoque manibus destruet.
  2. Ambulans recto itinere, et timens Deum, despicitur ab eo qui infami graditur via.
  3. In ore stulti virga superbiæ ; labia autem sapientium custodiunt eos.
  4. Ubi non sunt boves præsepe vacuum est ; ubi autem plurimæ segetes, ibi manifesta est fortitudo bovis.
  5. Testis fidelis non mentitur ; profert autem mendacium dolosus testis.
  6. Quærit derisor sapientiam, et non invenit ; doctrina prudentium facilis.
  7. Vade contra virum stultum, et nescit labia prudentiæ.
  8. Sapientia callidi est intelligere viam suam, et imprudentia stultorum errans.
  9. Stultus illudet peccatum, et inter justos morabitur gratia.
  10. Cor quod novit amaritudinem animæ suæ, in gaudio ejus non miscebitur extraneus.
  11. Domus impiorum delebitur, tabernacula vero justorum germinabunt.
  12. Est via quæ videtur homini justa, novissima autem ejus deducunt ad mortem.

  2. He that walketh in his uprightness feareth the LORD: but he that is perverse in his ways despiseth him.
  3. In the mouth of the foolish is a rod of pride: but the lips of the wise shall preserve them.
  4. Where no oxen are, the crib is clean: but much increase is by the strength of the ox.
  5. A faithful witness will not lie: but a false witness will utter lies.
  6. A scorner seeketh wisdom, and findeth it not: but knowledge is easy unto him that understandeth.
  7. Go from the presence of a foolish man, when thou perceivest not in him the lips of knowledge.
  8. The wisdom of the prudent is to understand his way: but the folly of fools is deceit.
  9. Fools make a mock at sin: but among the righteous there is favour.
  10. The heart knoweth his own bitterness; and a stranger doth not intermeddle with his joy.
  11. The house of the wicked shall be overthrown: but the tabernacle of the upright shall flourish.
