  1. A wise son listens to his father's instruction, but a scoffer doesn't listen to rebuke.
  2. By the fruit of his lips, a man enjoys good things; but the unfaithful crave violence.
  3. He who guards his mouth guards his soul. One who opens wide his lips comes to ruin.
  4. The soul of the sluggard desires, and has nothing, but the desire of the diligent shall be fully satisfied.
  5. A righteous man hates lies, but a wicked man brings shame and disgrace.
  6. Righteousness guards the way of integrity, but wickedness overthrows the sinner.
  7. There are some who pretend to be rich, yet have nothing. There are some who pretend to be poor, yet have great wealth.
  8. The ransom of a man's life is his riches, but the poor hear no threats.
  9. The light of the righteous shines brightly, but the lamp of the wicked is snuffed out.
  10. Pride only breeds quarrels, but with ones who take advice is wisdom.
  11. Wealth gained dishonestly dwindles away, but he who gathers by hand makes it grow.
  12. Hope deferred makes the heart sick, but when longing is fulfilled, it is a tree of life.
  13. Whoever despises instruction will pay for it, but he who respects a command will be rewarded.
  14. The teaching of the wise is a spring of life, to turn from the snares of death.
  15. Good understanding wins favor; but the way of the unfaithful is hard.
  16. Every prudent man acts from knowledge, but a fool exposes folly.
  17. A wicked messenger falls into trouble, but a trustworthy envoy gains healing.
  18. Poverty and shame come to him who refuses discipline, but he who heeds correction shall be honored.
  19. Longing fulfilled is sweet to the soul, but fools detest turning from evil.
  20. One who walks with wise men grows wise, but a companion of fools suffers harm.
  21. Misfortune pursues sinners, but prosperity rewards the righteous.
  22. A good man leaves an inheritance to his children's children, but the wealth of the sinner is stored for the righteous.
  23. An abundance of food is in poor people's fields, but injustice sweeps it away.
  24. One who spares the rod hates his son, but one who loves him is careful to discipline him.
  25. The righteous one eats to the satisfying of his soul, but the belly of the wicked goes hungry.

  1. בן חכם מוסר אב ולץ לא־שמע גערה׃
  2. מפרי פי־איש יאכל טוב ונפש בגדים חמס׃
  3. נצר פיו שמר נפשו פשק שפתיו מחתה־לו׃
  4. מתאוה ואין נפשו עצל ונפש חרצים תדשן׃
  5. דבר־שקר ישנא צדיק ורשע יבאיש ויחפיר׃
  6. צדקה תצר תם־דרך ורשעה תסלף חטאת׃
  7. יש מתעשר ואין כל מתרושש והון רב׃
  8. כפר נפש־איש עשרו ורש לא־שמע גערה׃
  9. אור־צדיקים ישמח ונר רשעים ידעך׃
  10. רק־בזדון יתן מצה ואת־נועצימ חכמה׃
  11. הונ מהבל ימעט וקבץ על־יד ירבה׃
  12. תוחלת ממשכה מחלה־לב ועץ חיים תאוה באה׃
  13. בז לדבר יחבל לו וירא מצוה הוא ישלם׃
  14. תורת חכם מקור חיים לסור ממקשי מות׃
  15. שכל־טוב יתן־חן ודרך בגדים איתן׃
  16. כל־ערום יעשה בדעת וכסיל יפרש אולת׃
  17. מלאך רשע יפל ברע וציר אמונים מרפא׃
  18. ריש וקלון פורע מוסר ושומר תוכחת יכבד׃
  19. תאוה נהיה תערב לנפש ותועבת כסילים סור מרע׃
  20. את־חכמים ורעה כסילים ירוע׃
  21. חטאים תרדף רעה ואת־צדיקים ישלם־טוב׃
  22. טוב ינחיל בני־בנים וצפון לצדיק חיל חוטא׃
  23. רב־אכל ניר ראשים ויש נספה בלא משפט׃
  24. חושך שבטו שונא בנו ואהבו שחרו מוסר׃
  25. צדיק אכל לשבע נפשו ובטן רשעים תחסר׃ ף

  1. υιος πανουργος υπηκοος πατρι υιος δε ανηκοος εν
  2. απο καρπων δικαιοσυνης φαγεται αγαθος ψυχαι δε παρανομων ολουνται
  3. ος φυλασσει το εαυτου στομα τηρει την εαυτου ψυχην ο δε προπετης χειλεσιν πτοησει
  4. εν επιθυμιαις εστιν πας αεργος χειρες δε ανδρειων εν
  5. λογον αδικον μισει δικαιος ασεβης δε αισχυνεται και ουχ εξει
  6. δικαιοσυνη φυλασσει ακακους τους δε ασεβεις φαυλους ποιει
  7. εισιν οι πλουτιζοντες εαυτους μηδεν εχοντες και εισιν οι ταπεινουντες εαυτους εν πολλω
  8. λυτρον ανδρος ψυχης ο ιδιος πλουτος πτωχος δε ουχ υφισταται
  9. φως δικαιοις δια παντος φως δε ασεβων
  10. κακος μεθ' υβρεως πρασσει κακα οι δε εαυτων επιγνωμονες
  11. υπαρξις επισπουδαζομενη μετα ανομιας ελασσων γινεται ο δε συναγων εαυτω μετ' ευσεβειας πληθυνθησεται δικαιος οικτιρει και
  12. κρεισσων εναρχομενος βοηθων καρδια του επαγγελλομενου και εις ελπιδα αγοντος δενδρον γαρ ζωης επιθυμια
  13. ος καταφρονει πραγματος καταφρονηθησεται υπ' αυτου ο δε φοβουμενος εντολην ουτος
  14. νομος σοφου πηγη ζωης ο δε ανους υπο παγιδος
  15. συνεσις αγαθη διδωσιν χαριν το δε γνωναι νομον διανοιας εστιν αγαθης οδοι δε καταφρονουντων εν
  16. πας πανουργος πρασσει μετα γνωσεως ο δε αφρων εξεπετασεν εαυτου
  17. βασιλευς θρασυς εμπεσειται εις κακα αγγελος δε πιστος ρυσεται

  22. αγαθος ανηρ κληρονομησει υιους υιων θησαυριζεται δε δικαιοις πλουτος

  24. ος φειδεται της βακτηριας μισει τον υιον αυτου ο δε αγαπων επιμελως

  1. Filius sapiens doctrina patris, qui autem illusor est non audit cum arguitur.
  2. De fructu oris sui homo satiabitur bonis, anima autem prævaricatorum iniqua.
  3. Qui custodit os suum custodit animam suam ; qui autem inconsideratus est ad loquendum, sentiet mala.
  4. Vult et non vult piger ; anima autem operantium impinguabitur.
  5. Verbum mendax justus detestabitur ; impius autem confundit, et confundetur.
  6. Justitia custodit innocentis viam, impietas autem peccatorem supplantat.
  7. Est quasi dives, cum nihil habeat, et est quasi pauper, cum in multis divitiis sit.
  8. Redemptio animæ viri divitiæ suæ ; qui autem pauper est, increpationem non sustinet.
  9. Lux justorum lætificat, lucerna autem impiorum extinguetur.
  10. Inter superbos semper jurgia sunt ; qui autem agunt omnia cum consilio, reguntur sapientia.
  11. Substantia festinata minuetur ; quæ autem paulatim colligitur manu, multiplicabitur.
  12. Spes quæ differtur affligit animam ; lignum vitæ desiderium veniens.
  13. Qui detrahit alicui rei ipse se in futurum obligat, qui autem timet præceptum in pace versabitur. Animæ dolosæ errant in peccatis, justi autem misericordes sunt, et miserantur.
  14. Lex sapientis fons vitæ, ut declinet a ruina mortis.
  15. Doctrina bona dabit gratiam ; in itinere contemptorum vorago.
  16. Astutus omnia agit cum consilio, qui autem fatuus est aperit stultitiam.
  17. Nuntius impii cade in malum ; legatus autem fidelis, sanitas.
  18. Egestas et ignominia ei qui deserit disciplinam, qui autem acquiescit arguenti glorificabitur.
  19. Desiderium si compleatur delectat animam ; detestantur stulti eos qui fugiunt mala.
  20. Qui cum sapientibus graditur sapiens erit ; amicus stultorum similis efficietur.
  21. Peccatores persequitur malum, et justis retribuentur bona.
  22. Bonus reliquit hæredes filios et nepotes, et custoditur justo substantia peccatoris.
  23. Multi cibi in novalibus patrum, et aliis congregantur absque judicio.
  24. Qui parcit virgæ odit filium suum ; qui autem diligit illum instanter erudit.
  25. Justus comedit et replet animam suam ; venter autem impiorum insaturabilis.

  1. A wise son heareth his father's instruction: but a scorner heareth not rebuke.
  2. A man shall eat good by the fruit of his mouth: but the soul of the transgressors shall eat violence.
  3. He that keepeth his mouth keepeth his life: but he that openeth wide his lips shall have destruction.
  4. The soul of the sluggard desireth, and hath nothing: but the soul of the diligent shall be made fat.
  5. A righteous man hateth lying: but a wicked man is loathsome, and cometh to shame.
  6. Righteousness keepeth him that is upright in the way: but wickedness overthroweth the sinner.
  7. There is that maketh himself rich, yet hath nothing: there is that maketh himself poor, yet hath great riches.
  8. The ransom of a man's life are his riches: but the poor heareth not rebuke.
  9. The light of the righteous rejoiceth: but the lamp of the wicked shall be put out.
  10. Only by pride cometh contention: but with the well advised is wisdom.
  11. Wealth gotten by vanity shall be diminished: but he that gathereth by labour shall increase.

  20. He that walketh with wise men shall be wise: but a companion of fools shall be destroyed.
  21. Evil pursueth sinners: but to the righteous good shall be repayed.
  22. A good man leaveth an inheritance to his children's children: and the wealth of the sinner is laid up for the just.
  23. Much food is in the tillage of the poor: but there is that is destroyed for want of judgment.
  24. He that spareth his rod hateth his son: but he that loveth him chasteneth him betimes.
  25. The righteous eateth to the satisfying of his soul: but the belly of the wicked shall want.
