Joash said to all who stood against him, "Will you contend for Baal? Or will you save him? He who will contend for him, let him be put to death while [it is yet] morning. If he is a god, let him contend for himself, because someone has broken down his altar."

Hebrew ויאמר יואש לכל אשר־עמדו עליו האתם תריבון לבעל אם־אתם תושיעון אותו אשר יריב לו יומת עד־הבקר אם־אלהים הוא ירב לו כי נתץ את־מזבחו׃
Greek και ειπεν ιωας τοις ανδρασιν πασιν οι επανεστησαν αυτω μη υμεις νυν δικαζεσθε υπερ του βααλ η υμεις σωσετε αυτον ος εαν δικασηται αυτω θανατωθητω εως πρωι ει θεος εστιν δικαζεσθω αυτω οτι καθειλεν το θυσιαστηριον
Latin Quibus ille respondit : Numquid ultores estis Baal, ut pugnetis pro eo ? qui adversarius est ejus, moriatur antequam lux crastina veniat : si Deus est, vindicet se de eo, qui suffodit aram ejus.
KJV And Joash said unto all that stood against him, Will ye plead for Baal? will ye save him? he that will plead for him, let him be put to death whilst it is yet morning: if he be a god, let him plead for himself, because one hath cast down his altar.
