  1. Moses and the elders of Israel commanded the people, saying, "Keep all the commandment which I command you this day.
  2. It shall be on the day when you shall pass over the Jordan to the land which Yahweh your God gives you, that you shall set yourself up great stones, and plaster them with plaster:
  3. and you shall write on them all the words of this law, when you have passed over; that you may go in to the land which Yahweh your God gives you, a land flowing with milk and honey, as Yahweh, the God of your fathers, has promised you.
  4. It shall be, when you have passed over the Jordan, that you shall set up these stones, which I command you this day, in Mount Ebal, and you shall plaster them with plaster.
  5. There you shall build an altar to Yahweh your God, an altar of stones: you shall lift up no iron [tool] on them.
  6. You shall build the altar of Yahweh your God of uncut stones; and you shall offer burnt offerings thereon to Yahweh your God:
  7. and you shall sacrifice peace offerings, and shall eat there; and you shall rejoice before Yahweh your God.
  8. You shall write on the stones all the words of this law very plainly."
  9. Moses and the priests the Levites spoke to all Israel, saying, "Keep silence, and listen, Israel: this day you have become the people of Yahweh your God.
  10. You shall therefore obey the voice of Yahweh your God, and do his commandments and his statutes, which I command you this day."
  11. Moses commanded the people the same day, saying,
  12. "These shall stand on Mount Gerizim to bless the people, when you have passed over the Jordan: Simeon, and Levi, and Judah, and Issachar, and Joseph, and Benjamin.
  13. These shall stand on Mount Ebal for the curse: Reuben, Gad, and Asher, and Zebulun, Dan, and Naphtali.
  14. The Levites shall answer, and tell all the men of Israel with a loud voice,
  15. 'Cursed is the man who makes an engraved or molten image, an abomination to Yahweh, the work of the hands of the craftsman, and sets it up in secret.' All the people shall answer and say, 'Amen.'
  16. 'Cursed is he who sets light by his father or his mother.' All the people shall say, 'Amen.'
  17. 'Cursed is he who removes his neighbor's landmark.' All the people shall say, 'Amen.'
  18. 'Cursed is he who makes the blind to wander out of the way.' All the people shall say, 'Amen.'
  19. 'Cursed is he who wrests the justice [due] to the foreigner, fatherless, and widow.' All the people shall say, 'Amen.'
  20. 'Cursed is he who lies with his father's wife, because he has uncovered his father's skirt.' All the people shall say, 'Amen.'
  21. 'Cursed is he who lies with any kind of animal.' All the people shall say, 'Amen.'
  22. 'Cursed is he who lies with his sister, the daughter of his father, or the daughter of his mother.' All the people shall say, 'Amen.'
  23. 'Cursed is he who lies with his mother-in-law.' All the people shall say, 'Amen.'
  24. 'Cursed is he who strikes his neighbor in secret.' All the people shall say, 'Amen.'
  25. 'Cursed is he who takes a bribe to kill an innocent person.' All the people shall say, 'Amen.'
  26. 'Cursed is he who doesn't confirm the words of this law to do them.' All the people shall say, 'Amen.'"

  1. ויצו משה וזקני ישראל את־העם לאמר שמר את־כל־המצוה אשר אנכי מצוה אתכם היום׃
  2. והיה ביום אשר תעברו את־הירדן אל־הארץ אשר־יהוה אלהיך נתן לך והקמת לך אבנים גדלות ושדת אתם בשיד׃
  3. וכתבת עליהן את־כל־דברי התורה הזאת בעברך למען אשר תבא אל־הארץ אשר־יהוה אלהיך נתן לך ארץ זבת חלב ודבש כאשר דבר יהוה אלהי־אבתיך לך׃
  4. והיה בעברכם את־הירדן תקימו את־האבנים האלה אשר אנכי מצוה אתכם היום בהר עיבל ושדת אותם בשיד׃
  5. ובנית שם מזבח ליהוה אלהיך מזבח אבנים לא־תניף עליהם ברזל׃
  6. אבנים שלמות תבנה את־מזבח יהוה אלהיך והעלית עליו עולת ליהוה אלהיך׃
  7. וזבחת שלמים ואכלת שם ושמחת לפני יהוה אלהיך׃
  8. וכתבת על־האבנים את־כל־דברי התורה הזאת באר היטב׃ ס
  9. וידבר משה והכהנים הלוים אל כל־ישראל לאמר הסכת ושמע ישראל היום הזה נהיית לעם ליהוה אלהיך׃
  10. ושמעת בקול יהוה אלהיך ועשית את־מצותוq ואת־חקיו אשר אנכי מצוך היום׃ ס
  11. ויצו משה את־העם ביום ההוא לאמר׃
  12. אלה יעמדו לברך את־העם על־הר גרזים בעברכם את־הירדן שמעון ולוי ויהודה ויששכר ויוסף ובנימן׃
  13. ואלה יעמדו על־הקללה בהר עיבל ראובן גד ואשר וזבולן דן ונפתלי׃
  14. וענו הלוים ואמרו אל־כל־איש ישראל קול רם׃ ס
  15. ארור האיש אשר יעשה פסל ומסכה תועבת יהוה מעשה ידי חרש ושם בסתר וענו כל־העם ואמרו אמן׃ ס
  16. ארור מקלה אביו ואמו ואמר כל־העם אמן׃ ס
  17. ארור מסיג גבול רעהו ואמר כל־העם אמן׃ ס
  18. ארור משגה עור בדרך ואמר כל־העם אמן׃ ס
  19. ארור מטה משפט גר־יתום ואלמנה ואמר כל־העם אמן׃ ס

  1. και προσεταξεν μωυσης και η γερουσια ισραηλ λεγων φυλασσεσθε πασας τας εντολας ταυτας οσας εγω εντελλομαι υμιν
  2. και εσται η αν ημερα διαβητε τον ιορδανην εις την γην ην κυριος ο θεος σου διδωσιν σοι και στησεις σεαυτω λιθους μεγαλους και κονιασεις αυτους
  3. και γραψεις επι των λιθων παντας τους λογους του νομου τουτου ως αν διαβητε τον ιορδανην ηνικα εαν εισελθητε εις την γην ην κυριος ο θεος των πατερων σου διδωσιν σοι γην ρεουσαν γαλα και μελι ον τροπον ειπεν κυριος ο θεος των πατερων σου
  4. και εσται ως αν διαβητε τον ιορδανην στησετε τους λιθους τουτους ους εγω εντελλομαι σοι σημερον εν ορει γαιβαλ και κονιασεις αυτους
  5. και οικοδομησεις εκει θυσιαστηριον κυριω τω θεω σου θυσιαστηριον εκ λιθων ουκ επιβαλεις επ' αυτους
  6. λιθους ολοκληρους οικοδομησεις θυσιαστηριον κυριω τω θεω σου και ανοισεις επ' αυτο ολοκαυτωματα κυριω τω θεω
  7. και θυσεις εκει θυσιαν σωτηριου κυριω τω θεω σου και φαγη και εμπλησθηση και ευφρανθηση εναντιον κυριου του θεου
  8. και γραψεις επι των λιθων παντα τον νομον τουτον σαφως
  9. και ελαλησεν μωυσης και οι ιερεις οι λευιται παντι ισραηλ λεγοντες σιωπα και ακουε ισραηλ εν τη ημερα ταυτη γεγονας εις λαον κυριω τω θεω
  10. και εισακουση της φωνης κυριου του θεου σου και ποιησεις πασας τας εντολας αυτου και τα δικαιωματα αυτου οσα εγω εντελλομαι σοι
  11. και ενετειλατο μωυσης τω λαω εν τη ημερα εκεινη
  12. ουτοι στησονται ευλογειν τον λαον εν ορει γαριζιν διαβαντες τον ιορδανην συμεων λευι ιουδας ισσαχαρ ιωσηφ και
  13. και ουτοι στησονται επι της καταρας εν ορει γαιβαλ ρουβην γαδ και ασηρ ζαβουλων δαν και
  14. και αποκριθεντες οι λευιται ερουσιν παντι ισραηλ φωνη
  15. επικαταρατος ανθρωπος οστις ποιησει γλυπτον και χωνευτον βδελυγμα κυριω εργον χειρων τεχνιτου και θησει αυτο εν αποκρυφω και αποκριθεις πας ο λαος ερουσιν
  16. επικαταρατος ο ατιμαζων πατερα αυτου η μητερα αυτου και ερουσιν πας ο λαος
  17. επικαταρατος ο μετατιθεις ορια του πλησιον και ερουσιν πας ο λαος
  18. επικαταρατος ο πλανων τυφλον εν οδω και ερουσιν πας ο λαος
  19. επικαταρατος ος αν εκκλινη κρισιν προσηλυτου και ορφανου και χηρας και ερουσιν πας ο λαος
  20. επικαταρατος ο κοιμωμενος μετα γυναικος του πατρος αυτου οτι απεκαλυψεν συγκαλυμμα του πατρος αυτου και ερουσιν πας ο λαος
  21. επικαταρατος ο κοιμωμενος μετα παντος κτηνους και ερουσιν πας ο λαος
  22. επικαταρατος ο κοιμωμενος μετα αδελφης εκ πατρος η εκ μητρος αυτου και ερουσιν πας ο λαος
  23. επικαταρατος ο κοιμωμενος μετα πενθερας αυτου και ερουσιν πας ο λαος γενοιτο επικαταρατος ο κοιμωμενος μετα αδελφης γυναικος αυτου και ερουσιν πας ο λαος
  24. επικαταρατος ο τυπτων τον πλησιον αυτου δολω και ερουσιν πας ο λαος
  25. επικαταρατος ος αν λαβη δωρα παταξαι ψυχην αιματος αθωου και ερουσιν πας ο λαος
  26. επικαταρατος πας ανθρωπος ος ουκ εμμενει εν πασιν τοις λογοις του νομου τουτου του ποιησαι αυτους και ερουσιν πας ο λαος

  1. Præcepit autem Moyses et seniores Israël populo, dicentes : Custodite omne mandatum quod præcipio vobis hodie.
  2. Cumque transieritis Jordanem in terram, quam Dominus Deus tuus dabit tibi, eriges ingentes lapides, et calce lævigabis eos,
  3. ut possis in eis scribere omnia verba legis hujus, Jordane transmisso : ut introëas terram, quam Dominus Deus tuus dabit tibi, terram lacte et melle manantem, sicut juravit patribus tuis.
  4. Quando ergo transieritis Jordanem, erigite lapides, quos ego hodie præcipio vobis in monte Hebal, et lævigabis eos calce :
  5. et ædificabis ibi altare Domino Deo tuo de lapidibus, quos ferrum non tetigit,
  6. et de saxis informibus et impolitis : et offeres super eo holocausta Domino Deo tuo,
  7. et immolabis hostias pacificas, comedesque ibi, et epulaberis coram Domino Deo tuo.
  8. Et scribes super lapides omnia verba legis hujus plane et lucide.
  9. Dixeruntque Moyses et sacerdotes Levitici generis ad omnem Israëlem : Attende, et audi, Israël : hodie factus es populus Domini Dei tui :
  10. audies vocem ejus, et facies mandata atque justitias, quas ego præcipio tibi.
  11. Præcepitque Moyses populo in die illo, dicens :
  12. Hi stabunt ad benedicendum populo super montem Garizim, Jordane transmisso : Simeon, Levi, Judas, Issachar, Joseph, et Benjamin.
  13. Et e regione isti stabunt ad maledicendum in monte Hebal : Ruben, Gad, et Aser, et Zabulon, Dan, et Nephthali.
  14. Et pronuntiabunt Levitæ, dicentque ad omnes viros Israël excelsa voce :
  15. Maledictus homo qui facit sculptile et conflatile, abominationem Domini, opus manuum artificum, ponetque illud in abscondito : et respondebit omnis populus, et dicet : Amen.
  16. Maledictus qui non honorat patrem suum, et matrem : et dicet omnis populus : Amen.
  17. Maledictus qui transfert terminos proximi sui : et dicet omnis populus : Amen.

  3. And thou shalt write upon them all the words of this law, when thou art passed over, that thou mayest go in unto the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee, a land that floweth with milk and honey; as the LORD God of thy fathers hath promised thee.
  4. Therefore it shall be when ye be gone over Jordan, that ye shall set up these stones, which I command you this day, in mount Ebal, and thou shalt plaister them with plaister.
  5. And there shalt thou build an altar unto the LORD thy God, an altar of stones: thou shalt not lift up any iron tool upon them.
