Armenia is a small country in Caucaus region bordered by Georgia, Azerbaijan, Turkey and Iran. Although it was part of communist USSR for decades, the majority of its 3 million people belong to its national church, the Armenian Apostolic Church. A smaller number of people belong to the Armenian Catholic Church.

A predecessor to Armenia, the Kingdom of Armenia is the first country to adopt Christianity as its state religion and it did so in 301 AD.

Prior to the adoption of Christianity as Armenia's state religion in 301 AD, Armenians generally practiced Zoroastrianism (officially from 331 BC to 301 AD) as well as Armenian Paganism.

As of 2011, Armenia's most celebrated religion is Christianity with 93.6% of Armenians being Christian (only 1% of its population is not part of the Armenian Apostolic Church but is still Christian).
