Synopsis
An apologist is one who defends Christianity through argument and discussion. The apologists of the first few centuries of Christianity played a very significant role in defending the faith against unorthodox teachings.

An apologist is one who defends Christianity through argument and discussion. The apologists of the first few centuries of Christianity played a very significant role in defending the faith against unorthodox teachings. Some of the more famous ones include Irenaeus who defended against Gnosticism and Athanasiadus who wrote strongly against Arianism.
