Text

Jeremiah 22:24-30

Matthew 1:1-16

Luke 3:23-38

Problem

1. The two accounts of Jesus' genealogy are both through Joseph, and are a) contradictory and b) show that Jesus wasn't a true descendant of David

2. Jesus was a descendant of Jehoiachin (also spelled Jeconiah), who had been cursed to have no descendants

Resolution

1. Contradictory genealogies

2. Jesus descended from Jehoiachin
