- It happened in the four hundred and eightieth year after the children of Israel were come out of the land of Egypt, in the fourth year of Solomon's reign over Israel, in the month Ziv, which is the second month, that he began to build the house of Yahweh.
- The house which king Solomon built for Yahweh, its length was sixty cubits, and its breadth twenty [cubits], and its height thirty cubits.
- The porch before the temple of the house, twenty cubits was its length, according to the breadth of the house; [and] ten cubits was its breadth before the house.
- For the house he made windows of fixed lattice work.
- Against the wall of the house he built stories all around, against the walls of the house all around, both of the temple and of the oracle; and he made side rooms all around.
- The nethermost story was five cubits broad, and the middle was six cubits broad, and the third was seven cubits broad; for on the outside he made offsets [in the wall] of the house all around, that [the beams] should not have hold in the walls of the house.
- The house, when it was in building, was built of stone prepared at the quarry; and there was neither hammer nor axe nor any tool of iron heard in the house, while it was in building.
- The door for the middle side rooms was in the right side of the house: and they went up by winding stairs into the middle [story], and out of the middle into the third.
- So he built the house, and finished it; and he covered the house with beams and planks of cedar.
- He built the stories against all the house, each five cubits high: and they rested on the house with timber of cedar.
- The word of Yahweh came to Solomon, saying,
- "Concerning this house which you are building, if you will walk in my statutes, and execute my ordinances, and keep all my commandments to walk in them; then will I establish my word with you, which I spoke to David your father.
- I will dwell among the children of Israel, and will not forsake my people Israel."
- So Solomon built the house, and finished it.
- He built the walls of the house within with boards of cedar: from the floor of the house to the walls of the ceiling, he covered them on the inside with wood; and he covered the floor of the house with boards of fir.
- He built twenty cubits on the hinder part of the house with boards of cedar from the floor to the walls [of the ceiling]: he built [them] for it within, for an oracle, even for the most holy place.
- The house, that is, the temple before [the oracle], was forty cubits [long].
- There was cedar on the house within, carved with buds and open flowers: all was cedar; there was no stone seen.
- He prepared an oracle in the midst of the house within, to set there the ark of the covenant of Yahweh.
- Within the oracle was [a space of] twenty cubits in length, and twenty cubits in breadth, and twenty cubits in its height; and he overlaid it with pure gold: and he covered the altar with cedar.
- So Solomon overlaid the house within with pure gold: and he drew chains of gold across before the oracle; and he overlaid it with gold.
- The whole house he overlaid with gold, until all the house was finished: also the whole altar that belonged to the oracle he overlaid with gold.
- In the oracle he made two cherubim of olive wood, each ten cubits high.
- Five cubits was the one wing of the cherub, and five cubits the other wing of the cherub: from the uttermost part of the one wing to the uttermost part of the other were ten cubits.
- The other cherub was ten cubits: both the cherubim were of one measure and one form.
- The height of the one cherub was ten cubits, and so was it of the other cherub.
- He set the cherubim within the inner house; and the wings of the cherubim were stretched forth, so that the wing of the one touched the one wall, and the wing of the other cherub touched the other wall; and their wings touched one another in the midst of the house.
- He overlaid the cherubim with gold.
- He carved all the walls of the house around with carved figures of cherubim and palm trees and open flowers, inside and outside.
- The floor of the house he overlaid with gold, inside and outside.
- For the entrance of the oracle he made doors of olive wood: the lintel [and] door posts were a fifth part [of the wall].
- So [he made] two doors of olive wood; and he carved on them carvings of cherubim and palm trees and open flowers, and overlaid them with gold; and he spread the gold on the cherubim, and on the palm trees.
- So also made he for the entrance of the temple door posts of olive wood, out of a fourth part [of the wall];
- and two doors of fir wood: the two leaves of the one door were folding, and the two leaves of the other door were folding.
- He carved [thereon] cherubim and palm trees and open flowers; and he overlaid them with gold fitted on the engraved work.
- He built the inner court with three courses of cut stone, and a course of cedar beams.
- In the fourth year was the foundation of the house of Yahweh laid, in the month Ziv.
- In the eleventh year, in the month Bul, which is the eighth month, was the house finished throughout all its parts, and according to all its fashion. So was he seven years in building it.

- ויהי בשמונים שנה וארבע מאות שנה לצאת בני־ישראל מארץ־מצרים בשנה הרביעית בחדש זו הוא החדש השני למלך שלמה על־ישראל ויבן הבית ליהוה׃
- והבית אשר בנה המלך שלמה ליהוה ששים־אמה ארכו ועשרים רחבו ושלשים אמה קומתו׃
- והאולם על־פני היכל הבית עשרים אמה ארכו על־פני רחב הבית עשר באמה רחבו על־פני הבית׃
- ויעש לבית חלוני שקפים אטמים׃
- ויבן על־קיר הבית סביב את־קירות הבית סביב להיכל ולדביר ויעש צלעות סביב׃
- התחתנה חמש באמה רחבה והתיכנה שש באמה רחבה והשלישית שבע באמה רחבה כי מגרעות נתן לבית סביב חוצה לבלתי אחז בקירות־הבית׃
- והבית בהבנתו אבן־שלמה מסע נבנה ומקבות והגרזן כל־כלי ברזל לא־נשמע בבית בהבנתו׃
- פתח הצלע התיכנה אל־כתף הבית הימנית ובלולים יעלו על־התיכנה ומן־התיכנה אל־השלשים׃
- ויבן את־הבית ויכלהו ויספן את־הבית גבים ושדרת בארזים׃
- ויבן את־ על־כל־הבית חמש אמות קומתו ויאחז את־הבית בעצי ארזים׃ ף
- ויהי דבר־יהוה אל־שלמה לאמר׃
- הבית הזה אשר־אתה בנה אם־תלך בחקתי ואת־משפטי תעשה ושמרת את־כל־מצותי ללכת בהם והקמתי את־דברי אתך אשר דברתי אל־דוד אביך׃
- ושכנתי בתוך בני ישראל ולא אעזב את־עמי ישראל׃ ס
- ויבן שלמה את־הבית ויכלהו׃
- ויבן את־קירות הבית מביתה בצלעות ארזים מקרקע הבית עד־קירות הספן צפה עץ מבית ויצף את־קרקע הבית בצלעות ברושים׃
- ויבן את־עשרים אמה הבית בצלעות ארזים מן־הקרקע עד־הקירות ויבן לו מבית לדביר לקדש הקדשים׃
- וארבעים באמה היה הבית הוא ההיכל לפני׃
- וארז אל־הבית פנימה מקלעת פקעים ופטורי צצים הכל ארז אין אבן נראה׃
- ודביר בתוך־הבית מפנימה הכין לתתן שם את־ארון ברית יהוה׃
- ולפני הדביר עשרים אמה ארך ועשרים אמה רחב ועשרים אמה קומתו ויצפהו זהב סגור ויצף מזבח ארז׃
- ויצף שלמה את־הבית מפנימה זהב סגור ויעבר זהב לפני הדביר ויצפהו זהב׃
- ואת־כל־הבית צפה זהב עד־תם כל־הבית וכל־המזבח אשר־לדביר צפה זהב׃
- ויעש בדביר שני כרובים עצי־שמן עשר אמות קומתו׃
- וחמש אמות כנף הכרוב האחת וחמש אמות כנף הכרוב השנית עשר אמות מקצות כנפיו ועד־קצות כנפיו׃
- ועשר באמה הכרוב השני מדה אחת וקצב אחד לשני הכרבים׃
- קומת הכרוב האחד עשר באמה וכן הכרוב השני׃
- ויתן את־הכרובים בתוך הבית הפנימי ויפרשו את־כנפי הכרבים ותגע כנף־האחד בקיר וכנף הכרוב השני נגעת בקיר השני וכנפיהם אל־תוך הבית נגעת כנף אל־כנף׃
- ויצף את־הכרובים זהב׃
- ואת כל־קירות הבית מסב קלע פתוחי מקלעות כרובים ותמרת ופטורי צצים מלפנים ולחיצון׃
- ואת־קרקע הבית צפה זהב לפנימה ולחיצון׃
- ואת פתח הדביר עשה דלתות עצי־שמן האיל מזוזות חמשית׃
- ושתי דלתות עצי־שמן וקלע עליהם מקלעות כרובים ותמרות ופטורי צצים וצפה זהב וירד על־הכרובים ועל־התמרות את־הזהב׃
- וכן עשה לפתח ההיכל מזוזות עצי־שמן מאת רבעית׃
- ושתי דלתות עצי ברושים שני צלעים הדלת האחת גלילים ושני קלעים הדלת השנית גלילים׃
- וקלע כרובים ותמרות ופטרי צצים וצפה זהב מישר על־המחקה׃
- ויבן את־החצר הפנימית שלשה טורי גזית וטור כרתת ארזים׃
- בשנה הרביעית יסד בית יהוה בירח זו׃
- ובשנה האחת עשרה בירח בול הוא החדש השמיני כלה הבית לכל־דבריו ולכל־ ויבנהו שבע שנים׃

- Factum est ergo quadringentesimo et octogesimo anno egressionis filiorum Israël de terra Ægypti, in anno quarto, mense Zio (ipse est mensis secundus), regni Salomonis super Israël, ædificari cœpit domus Domino.
- Domus autem, quam ædificabat rex Salomon Domino, habebat sexaginta cubitos in longitudine, et viginti cubitos in latitudine, et triginta cubitos in altitudine.
- Et porticus erat ante templum viginti cubitorum longitudinis, juxta mensuram latitudinis templi : et habebat decem cubitos latitudinis ante faciem templi.
- Fecitque in templo fenestras obliquas.
- Et ædificavit super parietem templi tabulata per gyrum, in parietibus domus per circuitum templi et oraculi, et fecit latera in circuitu.
- Tabulatum quod subter erat, quinque cubitos habebat latitudinis, et medium tabulatum sex cubitorum latitudinis, et tertium tabulatum septem habens cubitos latitudinis. Trabes autem posuit in domo per circuitum forinsecus, ut non hærerent muris templi.
- Domus autem cum ædificaretur, de lapidibus dolatis atque perfectis ædificata est : et malleus, et securis, et omne ferramentum non sunt audita in domo cum ædificaretur.
- Ostium lateris medii in parte erat domus dextræ : et per cochleam ascendebant in medium cœnaculum, et a medio in tertium.
- Et ædificavit domum, et consummavit eam : texit quoque domum laquearibus cedrinis.
- Et ædificavit tabulatum super omnem domum quinque cubitis altitudinis, et operuit domum lignis cedrinis.
- Et factus est sermo Domini ad Salomonem, dicens :
- Domus hæc, quam ædificas, si ambulaveris in præceptis meis, et judicia mea feceris, et custodieris omnia mandata mea, gradiens per ea : firmabo sermonem meum tibi, quem locutus sum ad David patrem tuum.
- Et habitabo in medio filiorum Israël, et non derelinquam populum meum Israël.
- Igitur ædificavit Salomon domum, et consummavit eam.
- Et ædificavit parietes domus intrinsecus, tabulatis cedrinis, a pavimento domus usque ad summitatem parietum, et usque ad laquearia, operuit lignis cedrinis intrinsecus : et texit pavimentum domus tabulis abiegnis.
- Ædificavitque viginti cubitorum ad posteriorem partem templi tabulata cedrina, a pavimento usque ad superiora : et fecit interiorem domum oraculi in Sanctum sanctorum.
- Porro quadraginta cubitorum erat ipsum templum pro foribus oraculi.
- Et cedro omnis domus intrinsecus vestiebatur, habens tornaturas et juncturas suas fabrefactas et cælaturas eminentes : omnia cedrinis tabulis vestiebantur : nec omnino lapis apparere poterat in pariete.
- Oraculum autem in medio domus, in interiori parte fecerat, ut poneret ibi arcam fœderis Domini.
- Porro oraculum habebat viginti cubitos longitudinis, et viginti cubitos latitudinis, et viginti cubitos altitudinis : et operuit illud atque vestivit auro purissimo : sed et altare vestivit cedro.
- Domum quoque ante oraculum operuit auro purissimo, et affixit laminas clavis aureis.
- Nihilque erat in templo quod non auro tegeretur : sed et totum altare oraculi texit auro.
- Et fecit in oraculo duos cherubim de lignis olivarum, decem cubitorum altitudinis.
- Quinque cubitorum ala cherub una, et quinque cubitorum ala cherub altera : id est, decem cubitos habentes, a summitate alæ unius usque ad alæ alterius summitatem.
- Decem quoque cubitorum erat cherub secundus : in mensura pari, et opus unum erat in duobus cherubim,

- Et omnes parietes templi per circuitum sculpsit variis cælaturis et torno : et fecit in eis cherubim, et palmas, et picturas varias, quasi prominentes de pariete, et egredientes.
- Sed et pavimentum domus texit auro intrinsecus et extrinsecus.
- Et in ingressu oraculi fecit ostiola de lignis olivarum, postesque angulorum quinque.
- Et duo ostia de lignis olivarum : et sculpsit in eis picturam cherubim, et palmarum species, et anaglypha valde prominentia : et texit ea auro : et operuit tam cherubim quam palmas, et cetera, auro.
- Fecitque in introitu templi postes de lignis olivarum quadrangulatos :
