3 John 1 Text (WEB) The elder to Gaius the beloved, whom I love in truth. Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be healthy, even as your soul prospers. For I rejoiced greatly, when brothers came and testified about your truth, even as you walk in truth. I have no greater joy than this, to hear about my children walking in truth. Beloved, you do a faithful work in whatever you accomplish for those who are brothers and strangers. They have testified about your love before the assembly. You will do well to send them forward on their journey in a way worthy of God, because for the sake of the Name they went out, taking nothing from the Gentiles. We therefore ought to receive such, that we may be fellow workers for the truth. I wrote to the assembly, but Diotrephes, who loves to be first among them, doesn't accept what we say. Therefore, if I come, I will call attention to his deeds which he does, unjustly accusing us with wicked words. Not content with this, neither does he himself receive the brothers, and those who would, he forbids and throws out of the assembly. Beloved, don't imitate that which is evil, but that which is good. He who does good is of God. He who does evil hasn't seen God. Demetrius has the testimony of all, and of the truth itself; yes, we also testify, and you know that our testimony is true. I had many things to write to you, but I am unwilling to write to you with ink and pen; but I hope to see you soon, and we will speak face to face. Peace be to you. The friends greet you. 3 John 1 Text (Hebrew) הזקן אל גיוס החביב אשר אני אהב אתו באמת׃ חביבי חפצי הוא כי ייטב לך בכל דבר ותחזק כאשר טוב לך בנפשך׃ כי שמחתי למאד כאשר באו אחים ויעידו על אמתך אשר מתהלך באמת אתה׃ אין לי שמחה גדולה מלשמע את אשר בני יתהלכו באמת׃ חביבי באמונה כל מעשיך עם האחים ועם הארחים׃ אשר העידו על אהבתך בפני הקהל ואף תיטיב לעשות בלותך אתם כאשר יאתה לפני אלהים׃ כי בעבור שמו יצאו ולא לקחו מאומה מן הגוים׃ על כן חיבים אנחנו לקבל אתם למען נהיה עזרים לאמת׃ אני כתבתי אל הקהלה אך דיוטריפס המתאוה להיות עליהם לראש איננו מקבל אתנו׃ על כן בבאי אזכיר את מעשיו אשר הוא עשה בספרו עלינו דברים רעים ולא דיו שלא יקבל את האחים כי גם ימנע את החפצים לקבל ויגרשם מתוך הקהלה׃ חביבי אל תרדף הרעה כי אם הטוב העשה טוב הוא מאלהים והעשה רע לא ראה את האלהים׃ על דימטריוס העידו הכל וגם האמת עצמה וגם אנחנו מעידים עליו וידעתם כי עדותנו היא נאמנה׃ הרבה לי לכתב ולא חפצתי לכתב אליך בדיו ובקנה׃ אבל אקוה לראותך במהרה ופה אל פה נדבר׃ [ (III John 1:15) שלום לך הרעים שאלים לשלומך שאל לשלום הרעים לאיש איש בשמו׃ ]
3 John 1 Text (Greek) ο πρεσβυτερος γαιω τω αγαπητω ον εγω αγαπω εν αληθεια αγαπητε περι παντων ευχομαι σε ευοδουσθαι και υγιαινειν καθως ευοδουται σου η ψυχη εχαρην γαρ λιαν ερχομενων αδελφων και μαρτυρουντων σου τη αληθεια καθως συ εν αληθεια περιπατεις μειζοτεραν τουτων ουκ εχω ινα ακουω τα εμα τεκνα εν τη αληθεια περιπατουντα αγαπητε πιστον ποιεις ο εαν εργαση εις τους αδελφους και τουτο ξενους οι εμαρτυρησαν σου τη αγαπη ενωπιον εκκλησιας ους καλως ποιησεις προπεμψας αξιως του θεου υπερ γαρ του ονοματος εξηλθον μηδεν λαμβανοντες απο των εθνικων ημεις ουν οφειλομεν υπολαμβανειν τους τοιουτους ινα συνεργοι γινωμεθα τη αληθεια εγραψα τι τη εκκλησια αλλ ο φιλοπρωτευων αυτων διοτρεφης ουκ επιδεχεται ημας δια τουτο εαν ελθω υπομνησω αυτου τα εργα α ποιει λογοις πονηροις φλυαρων ημας και μη αρκουμενος επι τουτοις ουτε αυτος επιδεχεται τους αδελφους και τους βουλομενους κωλυει και εκ της εκκλησιας εκβαλλει αγαπητε μη μιμου το κακον αλλα το αγαθον ο αγαθοποιων εκ του θεου εστιν ο κακοποιων ουχ εωρακεν τον θεον δημητριω μεμαρτυρηται υπο παντων και υπο αυτης της αληθειας και ημεις δε μαρτυρουμεν και οιδας οτι η μαρτυρια ημων αληθης εστιν πολλα ειχον γραψαι σοι αλλ ου θελω δια μελανος και καλαμου σοι γραφειν ελπιζω δε ευθεως σε ιδειν και στομα προς στομα
3 John 1 Text (Latin) Senior Gajo carissimo, quem ego diligo in veritate. Carissime, de omnibus orationem facio prospere te ingredi, et valere sicut prospere agit anima tua. Gavisus sum valde venientibus fratribus, et testimonium perhibentibus veritati tuæ, sicut tu in veritate ambulas. Majorem horum non habeo gratiam, quam ut audiam filios meos in veritate ambulare. Carissime, fideliter facis quidquid operaris in fratres, et hoc in peregrinos, qui testimonium reddiderunt caritati tuæ in conspectu ecclesiæ : quos, benefaciens, deduces digne Deo. Pro nomine enim ejus profecti sunt, nihil accipientes a gentibus. Nos ergo debemus suscipere hujusmodi, ut cooperatores simus veritatis. Scripsissem forsitan ecclesiæ : sed is qui amat primatum genere in eis, Diotrephes, non recipit nos : propter hoc si venero, commonebo ejus opera, quæ facit, verbis malignis garriens in nos : et quasi non ei ista sufficiant, neque ipse suscipit fratres : et eos qui suscipiunt, prohibet, et de ecclesia ejicit. Carissime, noli imitari malum, sed quod bonum est. Qui benefacit, ex Deo est : qui malefacit, non vidit Deum. Demetrio testimonium redditur ab omnibus, et ab ipsa veritate, sed et nos testimonium perhibemus : et nosti quoniam testimonium nostrum verum est. Multa habui tibi scribere : sed nolui per atramentum et calamum scribere tibi. Spero autem protinus te videre, et os ad os loquemur. Pax tibi. Salutant te amici. Saluta amicos nominatim.
3 John 1 Text (KJV) The elder unto the wellbeloved Gaius, whom I love in the truth. Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth. For I rejoiced greatly, when the brethren came and testified of the truth that is in thee, even as thou walkest in the truth. I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth. Beloved, thou doest faithfully whatsoever thou doest to the brethren, and to strangers; Which have borne witness of thy charity before the church: whom if thou bring forward on their journey after a godly sort, thou shalt do well: Because that for his name's sake they went forth, taking nothing of the Gentiles. We therefore ought to receive such, that we might be fellowhelpers to the truth. I wrote unto the church: but Diotrephes, who loveth to have the preeminence among them, receiveth us not. Wherefore, if I come, I will remember his deeds which he doeth, prating against us with malicious words: and not content therewith, neither doth he himself receive the brethren, and forbiddeth them that would, and casteth them out of the church. Beloved, follow not that which is evil, but that which is good. He that doeth good is of God: but he that doeth evil hath not seen God. Demetrius hath good report of all men, and of the truth itself: yea, and we also bear record; and ye know that our record is true. I had many things to write, but I will not with ink and pen write unto thee: But I trust I shall shortly see thee, and we shall speak face to face. Peace be to thee. Our friends salute thee.
