Irenaeus (130 - 202 AD) was an important early Christian who wrote against Gnosticism. He was originally from Asia Minor and later became Bishop of Lyon (South Gaul).
He was a strong opponent of Gnosticism, writing

- Demonstration of Apostolic Faith
