Zechariah 5 Text (WEB)
  1. Then again I lifted up my eyes, and saw, and behold, a flying scroll.
  2. He said to me, "What do you see?" I answered, "I see a flying scroll; its length is twenty cubits, and its breadth ten cubits."
  3. Then he said to me, "This is the curse that goes out over the surface of the whole land; for everyone who steals shall be cut off according to it on the one side; and everyone who swears falsely shall be cut off according to it on the other side.
  4. I will cause it to go out," says Yahweh of Armies, "and it will enter into the house of the thief, and into the house of him who swears falsely by my name; and it will remain in the midst of his house, and will destroy it with its timber and its stones."
  5. Then the angel who talked with me came forward, and said to me, "Lift up now your eyes, and see what is this that is appearing."
  6. I said, "What is it?" He said, "This is the ephah basket that is appearing." He said moreover, "This is their appearance in all the land
  7. (and behold, a talent of lead was lifted up); and this is a woman sitting in the midst of the ephah basket."
  8. He said, "This is Wickedness;" and he threw her down into the midst of the ephah basket; and he threw the weight of lead on its mouth.
  9. Then lifted I up my eyes, and saw, and behold, there were two women, and the wind was in their wings. Now they had wings like the wings of a stork, and they lifted up the ephah basket between earth and the sky.
  10. Then I said to the angel who talked with me, "Where are these carrying the ephah basket?"
  11. He said to me, "To build her a house in the land of Shinar. When it is prepared, she will be set there in her own place."

  1. ואשוב ואשא עיני ואראה והנה מגלה עפה׃
  2. ויאמר אלי מה אתה ראה ואמר אני ראה מגלה עפה ארכה עשרים באמה ורחבה עשר באמה׃
  3. ויאמר אלי זאת האלה היוצאת על־פני כל־הארץ כי כל־הגנב מזה כמוה נקה וכל־הנשבע מזה כמוה נקה׃
  4. הוצאתיה נאם יהוה צבאות ובאה אל־בית הגנב ואל־בית הנשבע בשמי לשקר ולנה בתוך ביתו וכלתו ואת־עציו ואת־אבניו׃
  5. ויצא המלאך הדבר בי ויאמר אלי שא נא עיניך וראה מה היוצאת הזאת׃
  6. ואמר מה־היא ויאמר זאת האיפה היוצאת ויאמר זאת עינם בכל־הארץ׃
  7. והנה ככר עפרת נשאת וזאת אשה אחת יושבת בתוך האיפה׃
  8. ויאמר זאת הרשעה וישלך אתה אל־תוך האיפה וישלך את־אבן העפרת אל־פיה׃ ס
  9. ואשא עיני וארא והנה שתים נשים יוצאות ורוח בכנפיהם ולהנה כנפים ככנפי החסידה ותשאנה את־האיפה בין הארץ ובין השמים׃
  10. ואמר אל־המלאך הדבר בי אנה המה מולכות את־האיפה׃
  11. ויאמר אלי לבנות־לה בית בארץ שנער והוכן והניחה שם על־מכנתה׃ ס

  1. και επεστρεψα και ηρα τους οφθαλμους μου και ειδον και ιδου δρεπανον
  2. και ειπεν προς με τι συ βλεπεις και ειπα εγω ορω δρεπανον πετομενον μηκος πηχεων εικοσι και πλατος πηχεων
  3. και ειπεν προς με αυτη η αρα η εκπορευομενη επι προσωπον πασης της γης διοτι πας ο κλεπτης εκ τουτου εως θανατου εκδικηθησεται και πας ο επιορκος εκ τουτου εως θανατου
  4. και εξοισω αυτο λεγει κυριος παντοκρατωρ και εισελευσεται εις τον οικον του κλεπτου και εις τον οικον του ομνυοντος τω ονοματι μου επι ψευδει και καταλυσει εν μεσω του οικου αυτου και συντελεσει αυτον και τα ξυλα αυτου και τους λιθους
  5. και εξηλθεν ο αγγελος ο λαλων εν εμοι και ειπεν προς με αναβλεψον τοις οφθαλμοις σου και ιδε τι το εκπορευομενον
  6. και ειπα τι εστιν και ειπεν τουτο το μετρον το εκπορευομενον και ειπεν αυτη η αδικια αυτων εν παση τη
  7. και ιδου ταλαντον μολιβου εξαιρομενον και ιδου μια γυνη εκαθητο εν μεσω του
  8. και ειπεν αυτη εστιν η ανομια και ερριψεν αυτην εν μεσω του μετρου και ερριψεν τον λιθον του μολιβου εις το στομα
  9. και ηρα τους οφθαλμους μου και ειδον και ιδου δυο γυναικες εκπορευομεναι και πνευμα εν ταις πτερυξιν αυτων και αυται ειχον πτερυγας ως πτερυγας εποπος και ανελαβον το μετρον ανα μεσον της γης και ανα μεσον του
  10. και ειπα προς τον αγγελον τον λαλουντα εν εμοι που αυται αποφερουσιν το
  11. και ειπεν προς με οικοδομησαι αυτω οικιαν εν γη βαβυλωνος και ετοιμασαι και θησουσιν αυτο εκει επι την ετοιμασιαν

  1. Et conversus sum, et levavi oculos meos, et vidi, et ecce volumen volans.
  2. Et dixit ad me : Quid tu vides ? Et dixi : Ego video volumen volans : longitudo ejus viginti cubitorum, et latitudo ejus decem cubitorum.
  3. Et dixit ad me : Hæc est maledictio quæ egreditur super faciem omnis terræ : quia omnis fur, sicut ibi scriptum est, judicabitur, et omnis jurans ex hoc similiter judicabitur.
  4. Educam illud, dicit Dominus exercituum : et veniet ad domum furis, et ad domum jurantis in nomine meo mendaciter : et commorabitur in medio domus ejus, et consumet eam, et ligna ejus, et lapides ejus.
  5. Et egressus est angelus qui loquebatur in me, et dixit ad me : Leva oculos tuos, et vide quid est hoc quod egreditur.
  6. Et dixi : Quidnam est ? Et ait : Hæc est amphora egrediens. Et dixit : Hæc est oculus eorum in universa terra.
  7. Et ecce talentum plumbi portabatur, et ecce mulier una sedens in medio amphoræ.
  8. Et dixit : Hæc est impietas. Et projecit eam in medio amphoræ, et misit massam plumbeam in os ejus.
  9. Et levavi oculos meos, et vidi : et ecce duæ mulieres egredientes : et spiritus in alis earum, et habebant alas quasi alas milvi, et levaverunt amphoram inter terram et cælum.
  10. Et dixi ad angelum qui loquebatur in me : Quo istæ deferunt amphoram ?
  11. Et dixit ad me : Ut ædificetur ei domus in terra Sennaar, et stabiliatur, et ponatur ibi super basem suam.

  1. Then I turned, and lifted up mine eyes, and looked, and behold a flying roll.
  2. And he said unto me, What seest thou? And I answered, I see a flying roll; the length thereof is twenty cubits, and the breadth thereof ten cubits.
  3. Then said he unto me, This is the curse that goeth forth over the face of the whole earth: for every one that stealeth shall be cut off as on this side according to it; and every one that sweareth shall be cut off as on that side according to it.
  4. I will bring it forth, saith the LORD of hosts, and it shall enter into the house of the thief, and into the house of him that sweareth falsely by my name: and it shall remain in the midst of his house, and shall consume it with the timber thereof and the stones thereof.
  5. Then the angel that talked with me went forth, and said unto me, Lift up now thine eyes, and see what is this that goeth forth.
  6. And I said, What is it? And he said, This is an ephah that goeth forth. He said moreover, This is their resemblance through all the earth.
  7. And, behold, there was lifted up a talent of lead: and this is a woman that sitteth in the midst of the ephah.
  8. And he said, This is wickedness. And he cast it into the midst of the ephah; and he cast the weight of lead upon the mouth thereof.
  9. Then lifted I up mine eyes, and looked, and, behold, there came out two women, and the wind was in their wings; for they had wings like the wings of a stork: and they lifted up the ephah between the earth and the heaven.
  10. Then said I to the angel that talked with me, Whither do these bear the ephah?
  11. And he said unto me, To build it an house in the land of Shinar: and it shall be established, and set there upon her own base.
