The "Golden Rule" is a phrase that describes the principle that we should act to others in the way that we want them to act towards us. This way of living was described by Jesus as recorded in Matthew 7:12:

Therefore whatever you desire for men to do to you, you shall also do to them; for this is the law and the prophets.
