כי כל אשר נכתב מלפנים ללמדנו נכתב למען תהיה לנו תקוה בסבלנות ובתנחומות הכתובים׃

Greek οσα γαρ προεγραφη εις την ημετεραν διδασκαλιαν εγραφη ινα δια της υπομονης και δια της παρακλησεως των γραφων την ελπιδα εχωμεν
Latin Quæcumque enim scripta sunt, ad nostram doctrinam scripta sunt : ut per patientiam, et consolationem Scripturarum, spem habeamus.
KJV For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope.
